A system for removing hydrocarbons and other contaminants from sand and/or drill cuttings includes screening large debris from a first loading inlet hopper () to a screen covered receiving hopper () that may contain a chopper and chemical additive nozzles (). A first inclined auger () receives the material from hopper () at its lower inlet port and conveys the material upwards dropping it into a hopper () and then to a unit () either of which may include a crasher (). Unit () includes an eductor () which feeds the screened and treated sand slurry to desanding units () such as hydro cyclones. The underflow from the desanders is sent to an auger tank's () first compartment () while the overflow is sent to its second compartment () where a flow distributing conduit () that disperses it over the surface of both compartments (), (). The auger tank () employs horizontal augers () that are arterial both the first and second compartments () and (). Second compartment () contains inclined plate separators () and sparging tubes (). Overflow from auger tank () is sent to another two compartment separator (). The first compartment () which receives the overflow from auger tank () includes a weir-type partition topped by an oil skimmer () connected to a voiding pump () feeding an oil tank () and defining a horizontal gap with the two compartment separator tank bottom as at (). Clean water passing through the bottom weir is allowed to spill over the top of the an uppermost weir in the two compartment separator tank () into clean water collection tank () from when it is recycled to other components of the system. The undertow recovered from the auger separation tank () may be further decontaminated by sending it via an inclined conveyor to a serial connection with a second system similar to the one described herein above.

Methods and apparatuses for mixing drilling fluids

The present invention relates to a system and a method for the extraction of hydrocarbons from drill cuttings in drilling mud. The system for extracting hydrocarbons from drill cuttings includes at least one extraction tank, a carbon dioxide tank fluidly connected to the at least one extraction tank, and at least one separation tank in fluid communication with the at least one extraction tank. The method for extracting hydrocarbons from drill cuttings consists of exposing the drill cuttings to liquid carbon dioxide, solubilizing hydrocarbons from the drill cuttings with the liquid carbon dioxide, heating the liquid carbon dioxide and the soluble hydrocarbons to convert liquid carbon dioxide to carbon dioxide vapor, separating the hydrocarbons from the carbon dioxide vapor, and collecting the separated hydrocarbons.

Method for hydrocarbon removal and recovery from drill cuttings

A system for separating hydrocarbons from a solid source, the system including a mixer configured to produce a slurry including the solid source and a liquid, and a first separator in fluid communication with the mixer, the first separator configured to separate hydrocarbons from the slurry. Additionally, a second separator include communication with the first separator, the second separator configured to receive the slurry from the first separator and separate additional hydrocarbons from the slurry, and a separation vessel including a hydrocarbon remover in fluid communication with the first and second separators, the separation vessel configured to receive the separated hydrocarbons and remove residual liquid from the hydrocarbons. Further including a collection vessel configured to receive hydrocarbons from the separation vessel, and a fine particle separator in fluid communication with the separation vessel, the fine particle separator configured to process residual liquid to produce cleaned liquid and residual solids.

System and method of separating hydrocarbons

A system for separating hydrocarbons from a solid source including a primary separation tank including a first hydrocarbon removing device to remove hydrocarbons from a slurry of water and solids. Further, the system including a transfer device between the primary separation tank and a secondary separation tank, wherein the transfer device is configured to transfer solids from the slurry to the secondary separation tank. Further still, the system including a second hydrocarbon removal device, a fine particle separation device to remove remaining solids in the secondary separation tank, and a product collection tank to receive hydrocarbons removed from the primary and secondary separation tanks.
