Melt fabrication, with precompounding, of a plurality of thermoplastic resins, is provided by use of a screw having a dispersion section in such machines as injection molding machines. The minor resin component can be an elastomer, which toughens the resin's major component. This effect is improved by increasing back pressure on the screw used in the injection molding machine, to extend the screw rotation and thus shear time accomplished by the dispersion section.

Polyoxymethylene/thermoplastic polyurethane compositions having 5-40 weight percent polyurethane are modified by incorporating therein 0.05-1.0 weight percent of a polycarbodiimide (or a mixture of polycarbodiimides) having a molecular weight of about 1000 and containing units of the formula ##STR1## where n has an average value of about 3, to improve resistance to discoloration and decomposition.

A flame-retardant polyamide composition is described which is non-brittle. The composition is comprised of a nylon 66 or nylon 66/6, a brominated polystyrene, antimony oxide and a selected non-ionic surfactant.

Flame-retardant polyamide compositions

A melt compounded blend of a nylon resin and a small amount of a finely divided adduct which contains a requisite amount of anhydride functionality. The adduct polymer is found to provide nucleating effects to the resultant blend.

Polyamide resins

A blend of a condensation polyamide and zinc phenyl phosphinate and/or zinc phenyl phosphonate nucleating agent has been found to result in resins having good strength.
