Approaches provide for generating a document (e.g., a contract) that satisfies constraints of at least one party in a negotiation. Information can be obtained from parties seeking to negotiate document sections (e.g., clauses or provisions) of a document such as a contract. Ranking values for a plurality of candidate contracts can be determined based on information from the parties, including their preferences for different sections (e.g., provisions) of the contract. The values can be used to optimize an optimization function that measures the degree to which candidate contracts satisfy the information provided by the parties. For example, an optimization technique, machine learning-based technique, or other appropriate technique can be utilized to determine a document or document information that satisfies the constraints of the parties. Thereafter, a contract can be selected and presented to the parties. The parties can execute the contract, modify, store, or otherwise interact with and/or process the contract.

Automatic document negotiation

A method for competing mobile payment offers includes presenting a payment request based on a purchase request to an electronic device. A transaction description based on the payment request is forwarded to one or more payment providers. One or more payment offers are received from the one or more payment providers on the electronic device. A payment method is selected for the purchase request based on the received one or more payment offers. The purchase request is completed using the selected payment method.

Competing mobile payment offers

One embodiment provides a system comprising a content navigation application module including a user interface unit, a synchronization unit, and a content navigation control unit. The user interface unit generates first metadata information associated with a content frame of a first piece of content. The synchronization unit synchronizes the display of the first metadata information with the display of the content frame during content playback of said first piece of content. The first metadata information and the content frame are displayed on different devices. The content navigation control unit enables content navigation based on user interaction with the first metadata information when the first metadata information is displayed.

Point-to-point content navigation using an auxiliary device

Various embodiments relate to a cloud-based temporary app management system. In one aspect of the invention, a cloud service provides a temporary app from a vendor. The temporary app is a mobile application that is temporarily accessible on a mobile device when a designated event (e.g. a change in the location or surroundings of the mobile device, a particular type of data stored in the mobile device, etc.) is detected by a mobile device. The cloud service receives event information from the mobile device. The event information indicates an event detected by the mobile device. The cloud service then determines whether to make the temporary app accessible on the mobile device based on an analysis of the designated event and the event information received from the mobile device.

Temporary applications for mobile devices

One embodiment provides a system comprising a menu navigation application module comprising a request unit for requesting menu metadata information associated with a piece of content, a menu interface unit for generating one or more menu interfaces based on the menu metadata information, and a menu navigation control unit for enabling user interaction with menu interfaces during playback of the piece of content. The menu interfaces and the piece of content are displayed on different devices. The menu interfaces are displayed without interrupting the playback of the piece of content.

Content control using an auxiliary device

Methods and systems of rendering content on a device having a native digital rights management (DRM) system are described. A device, such as an end-user device capable of executing or playing content, acquires content in a common content format file having standardized locations for specific types of data. A generic digital rights token associated with the content is obtained by utilizing one of the standardized locations in the content format file, where the rights token contains information sufficient to allow retrieval of the rights associated with the content. Utilizing data in another of the standardized locations, it is then determined whether the device is registered in a domain. A license server directory may be accessed utilizing data in another of the standardized locations in the common content format file and a domain identifier, a device identifier, or both are transmitted to the license server directory. A native DRM system trigger is received and, upon activation of the trigger, a native DRM license is acquired, thereby enabling rendering of the content in the common content format file on the device.

Generic rights token and DRM-related service pointers in a common protected content file

A secure authentication channel (SAC) between two nodes in a communication network is created by the nodes themselves using mutual authentication. The network has two nodes, a coordinating entity, two PKI-based SACs, and one non-PKI SAC which is created by the two nodes and is for use by the nodes. The coordinating entity generates a master key which is transmitted to two nodes via a PKI-based SAC established between the coordinating entity and each of the two nodes. One node uses the master key to generate a first random number and the second node uses the key to generate a second random number. The second node also has an encrypted third random number. The network also has a third SAC, which is not solely based on PKI, between the first node and the second node and is created when the two nodes have authenticated each other. The mutual authentication process occurs without the intervention of the coordinating entity.

Lightweight secure authentication channel

An avatar image on a device display, such as a cell phone or laptop computer, maintains natural and realistic eye contact with a user (a human being) while the user is communicating with the other human being, whose avatar is displayed on the device. Thus, the user and the avatar have natural eye contact during the communication session (e.g., phone call). Modules within the device ensure that the avatar eyes do not maintain a fixed gaze or stare at the user constantly and that the avatar looks away and changes head and eye angles in a natural manner. An imager in the device captures images of the user and tracks the user's eyes. This data is inputted to an avatar display control module on the device which processes the data, factors in randomness variables, and creates control signals that are sent to the avatar image display component on the device. The control signals instruct how the avatar eyes should be positioned.

Eye gaze control during avatar-based communication

A user playing a media file having ads on a playback device is able to automatically skip the ads during playback depending on the user's subscription level, as indicated in a user license or user account information. Whether an ad is automatically skipped may depend not only on the user license but also on attributes of the ad. An ad may have a skip-level which indicates the 'importance' of the ad. If the advertiser wants to ensure that the ad will be seen and not be automatically skipped by a media playback unit, it can pay a higher price for the ad and the ad will be assigned a higher skip-level value. On the user subscription side, a user who wants to avoid ads may pay a higher subscription fee and have a user license that determines, via an auto-skip level value ('user level'), how many ads the user can automatically skip during playback of the media file. With a higher the auto-skip level value, the user is able to automatically skip more ads on the playback device.

Rights-based advertisement management in protected media

A system and method for automatically selecting an object from a field of view of a handheld image capture device. The system includes sensors configured to sense features of one or more objects in the field of view and a decision unit configured to automatically select one or more objects from the field of view based on the sensed features using a decision algorithm that is based on a decision structure, wherein the decision structure receives and prioritizes inputs from the sensors. The system may also optionally include an object movement detecting module configured to detect movement of objects, and a manual selection unit configured to provide user priorities; if included, the information from these elements may also be used by the decision unit to automatically select the object or objects.

System and method for moving object selection in a handheld image capture device

A display component implements a text entry system for a device, such as a cell phone or other handheld device, has various layers that mimic characteristics of a conventional keyboard. A keyboard is displayed on a dynamic touch screen display. When a key is pressed by a user, the surface area of the key on the display depresses, thereby mimicking a conventional keyboard that would typically be used with a desktop or laptop computer. The display component is comprised of various layers or panels. One layer is a compressible touch sensitive or touch screen layer. Adjacent to this layer is a compressible display layer. Another layer is a deformable or cushion layer for supporting a specific weight, such as the weight of user fingers or hands. Adjacent to the deformable layer is a lower touch sensitive layer which has a coordinate system. A user pressing down on a key on the compressible display component at a specific spot creates a downward deformation at that specific spot, thereby providing a more ergonomic feel to the user when entering text into the device.

A system and method for automatically and optically capturing an image in a handheld image capture device. The system includes an imager and an actuated mounting mechanism attached to the imager. The imager has one or more degrees of freedom (DOF) and includes at least one of a pan DOF, a tilt DOF, and a rotate DOF. In certain embodiments, the device can auto-center a selected object of interest in the image frame, auto-zoom in on the selected object of interest, and/or auto-rotate the captured image. The method includes providing an imager having a pan degree of freedom (DOF) and a tilt DOF, capturing an image by the imager to produce an image frame, selecting an object of interest from the captured image, and auto-centering the selected object in the image frame using one or both of the pan DOF and the tilt DOF.
