A communication is received from a fare media which includes a token associated with a transit account and a risk score based on a usage history of the account which is indicative of a likelihood of default associated with the account. One or more positive or negative lists are received from a server. Positive lists include first account identifiers associated with accounts in good standing. Negative lists include account identifiers associated with accounts in poor standing. A determination whether the token is associated with an account represented by one of the first or one of the second account identifiers is made. A determination, based on the risk score or the determination of the association of the token is made whether to grant access to the transit system. Information related to the determination of whether to grant access is communicated to the server. Access is granted to the transit system.

Systems and techniques are presented for processing a user through a paid entry gate using a mobile device. The mobile device receives a beacon packet from a first wireless beacon and wakes up an application. The application wakes up by transitioning to an active or background execution state. The application transmits validation data to a computer server system and the computer server system validates an account of the user. The mobile device receives a beacon packet including a gate identifier that is a unique identification of the paid entry gate from a second wireless beacon and transmits the gate identifier to the computer server system. The computer server system receives the gate identifier, debits the account of the user, and transmits a signal to a gate entry device associated with the gate identifier to grant the user passage through the paid entry gate.

Fare collection using wireless beacons

A handheld transit fare device is provided. The transit fare device includes an NFC interface configured to send and receive data, a memory, and a processor. The processor is configured to receive, via the interface, a list of transactions from a host device using standard smart card protocol commands and reply structures. The list of transactions includes identifiers of fare access media used to gain access to a transit vehicle. The processor is configured to store the list of transactions on the memory and to provide a first indication that the list of transactions has been received. The processor is configured to receive, via the interface, an identifier from a fare access media on the transit vehicle, determine whether the identifier from the fare access media matches one of the identifiers from the list of transactions, and provide a second indication that provides a result of the determination.

Software emulation of contactless smart card behaviour within a portable contactless reader device

A motorcycle rider is heated by the steps of: transferring heat from atmosphere to a thermally conductive element mounted on a motorcycle by the Peltier effect; and circulating working liquid in a closed cycle from the thermally conductive element, through a garment worn by the motorcycle rider via an inlet coupling thereto and an outlet coupling therefrom, and then back to the thermally conductive element. In an alternative arrangement, a motorcycle rider is cooled by the steps of: circulating working liquid in a closed cycle through a garment worn by the rider via an outlet coupling therefrom, via a thermally conductive element mounted on the motorcycle, and then back to the an inlet coupling to the garment; and transferring heat from the thermally conductive element to atmosphere by the Peltier effect. In either case, both the inlet coupling and the outlet coupling are separable to allow the motorcycle rider to leave the motorcycle while still wearing the garment.
