A method of replacing slot armor and slot liners in radial slots of generator rotors comprising: (a) removing a winding from respective radial slots in the generator rotor; (b) removing existing slot armors and slot liners from each of the radial slots in the generator rotor; (c) installing a pair of L-shaped slot armor components in each radial slot, each L-shaped armor component constructed of a powder-coated metal; and (d) installing a winding in the radial slots, wherein the L-shaped slot armor components substantially fill any space between the winding and adjacent walls of the radial slots.

Method of replacing slot armor and slot liners in a generator rotor

A light management film includes a first layer with a thermoplastic resin and a particular phosphonium sulfonate salt, and a second layer formed from a curable composition and having a refractive index of at least 1.5. The light management film exhibits reduced static electricity build-up and reduced dust attraction, making it easier to handle during fabrication of display devices such as the flat panel displays of laptop computers.

A method of preparing polyestercarbonates is presented in which a mixture of at least one activated diaryl carbonate is reacted under melt polymerization conditions with at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound together with at least one dicarboxylic acid. Polyestercarbonates possessing up to about percent 10 mole dicarboxylic acid residues based on the total amount of structural units derived from aromatic dihydroxy compounds are obtained. The method provides both for high levels of incorporation of the dicarboxylic acid into the polyestercarbonate backbone and a high level of polymer endcapping.

Method of preparing polyestercarbonates

Extrusion of a mixture of an ester-substituted diaryl carbonate, such as bis-methyl salicyl carbonate, a dihydroxy aromatic compound such as bisphenol A and a transesterification catalyst such as tetrabutyl phosphonium acetate (TBPA) affords polycarbonate having a weight average molecular weight of greater than 20,000 Daltons. The extruder is equipped with one or more vacuum vents to remove by-product ester-substituted phenol. Similarly, a precursor polycarbonate having ester-substituted phenoxy endgroups, for example methyl salicyl endgroups, when subjected to extrusion affords a polycarbonate having a significantly increased molecular weight relative to the precursor polycarbonate. The reaction to form a higher molecular weight polycarbonate may be catalyzed by residual transesterification catalyst present in the precursor polycarbonate, or by a combination of any residual catalyst and an additional catalyst such as TBPA introduced in the extrusion step. Fries rearrangement products are not observed in the product polycarbonates.
