An aircraft hydraulic control system includes a pump system, a fluid circuit, and a controller. The pump system includes a hydraulic pump and a ram air turbine assembly. The fluid circuit delivers hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic pump and receives the hydraulic fluid output from the hydraulic pump. The controller is in signal communication with the hydraulic pump. The controller determines a rotational frequency of a ram air turbine included in the ram air turbine assembly, and controls the hydraulic pump so as to control the flow of hydraulic fluid in the fluid circuit. The flow of hydraulic fluid in the fluid circuit controls a fluid pressure of the aircraft.

A ram air turbine (RAT) actuator can include an actuator housing, an actuator rod configured to move relative to the actuator housing through several positions, and a first biasing member, a second biasing member, and a third biasing member positioned and configured to bias the actuator rod relative to the actuator housing. The first biasing member biases the actuator rod from a first position through a second position, the second biasing member biases the actuator rod from the first position through a third position, and the third biasing member biases the actuator rod from the first position through a fourth position. The three biasing members can be configured to bias a ram air turbine against an uplock hook with sufficient force to eliminate vibrational damage to the uplock hook while in the first position.

A blade for a ram air turbine includes a pitch rotation connector configured to connect to a pitch rotation device configured to control rotation of the blade about a pitch axis and an airfoil rotationally fixed to the pitch rotation connector. The pitch rotation connector is positioned on the airfoil to reduce pitch dependent moment about the pitch axis such that a maximum pressure moment about the pitch axis is less than a torque supplied to the blade via the pitch rotation device. The position of the pitch rotation connector can be configured to prevent and/or dampen pitch oscillation due to a changing load on the spring and mass governor.

Ram air turbine blades

An actuator assembly includes a housing, an internal cavity within the housing configured to partially contain a pressurized fluid, a fluid inlet port connecting a first opening on an outer surface of the housing to the internal cavity, a fluid outlet port connecting a second opening on the outer surface of the housing to the internal cavity, and a pressure relief channel having a relief inlet and a relief outlet. The relief outlet is in fluid communication with the internal cavity and a distance between the fluid inlet port and the relief outlet is less than half a distance between the fluid inlet port and fluid outlet port.
