An integrated microfabricated alkali vapor cell sensor includes two alkali vapor regions, with a signal path through each. One or two signal emitters, with associated optical signal rotators, such as quarter wave plates, provide circularly polarized input signals into the alkali vapor regions, so that a first signal through the first alkali vapor region is circularly polarized in an opposite direction from a second signal through the second alkali vapor region. Output signals from the two alkali vapor regions are transformed to linearly polarized signals and then measured by one or more signal detectors. A first Larmor frequency is estimated from the output signal from the first alkali vapor region, and a second Larmor frequency is estimated from the output signal from the second alkali vapor region. A heading error-free Larmor frequency is estimated from the first Larmor frequency and the second Larmor frequency.

A system comprises a flexible pad, an antenna wire disposed within the flexible pad, and an electronics unit connected to or capable of being connected to the antenna wire. The electronics unit can include circuitry configured to access a stored playlist representing a sequence of tones at different frequencies, and to generate signals representing the tones such that two or more of the tones are generated in the sequence according to the stored playlist. The electronics unit further can include an oscillator to generate a carrier signal and coupled so that the signals representing the tones modulate the carrier signal according to the sequence when applied to an input of the oscillator, where the oscillator has an output connected to transmit the modulated carrier signal onto an antenna when the electronics unit is in operation.

A system includes at least one first magnetic field sensor configured to measure first and second magnetic fields. The system also includes at least one second magnetic field sensor configured to measure the second magnetic field substantially without measuring the first magnetic field. The system further includes processing circuitry configured to perform signal cancellation to generate measurements of the first magnetic field and to generate an output based on the measurements of the first magnetic field. The sensors could represent magneto-electric sensors. The magneto-electric sensors could be configured to up-convert electrical signals associated with the first and/or second magnetic fields to a higher frequency. The processing circuitry could be configured to identify one or more problems associated with a patient's heart.
