A system for transferring a particulate material from a first container to a second container including an upper portion, a lower portion and a sieve. The upper portion having a housing and a high frequency vibrator, the housing having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a gasket positioned adjacent the first end. The lower portion having a collector funnel, a low frequency vibrator and a collar securing the low frequency vibrator to the collector funnel. The sieve having a mesh size, a perimeter and a gasket positioned adjacent the perimeter. The upper portion is releasably secured to the first container and the sieve is releasably secured between the second end of the upper portion and the lower portion.

Single dose screening for particulate materials

The present teachings described a method and system of refilling replenisher containers for an electrophotographic machine. A replenisher cartridge for refill is received and a weight of the replenisher cartridge is determined. The weight of residual material in the replenisher cartridge is determined. The weight of carrier particles in the weight of residual material is determined through X-ray image analysis of the replenisher cartridge. The weight of carrier particles in the weight of residual materials and the weight of residual toner by is determined. An amount of toner and carrier is added to the replenisher cartridge.

System for refilling replenisher cartridge

An approach is provided for filling a toner container useful in printing. The approach involves causing, at least in part, a toner container to be coupled to a base member, the base member being configured to contact a lift mechanism. The approach further involves causing, at least in part, the toner container to be moved to a filling position by the lift mechanism. The approach also involves causing, at least in part, a predetermined amount of a toner to be input into the toner container by a filling process when the toner container is in the filling position. The approach additionally involves causing, at least in part, at least the toner inside the toner container to be agitated by way of the base member during the filling process, at least until the toner container is filled with the predetermined amount of toner.

Method and apparatus for filling a toner container useful in printing

A toner container assembly including a seal assembly. The seal assembly can include an outer retainer ring having a non-adhesive carrier, a first adhesive layer on a surface of the non-adhesive carrier, and a first opening through the outer retainer ring. The seal assembly can further include a foam ring having a second opening therethrough, wherein the foam ring is attached to the outer retainer ring with the first adhesive, and a double-sided adhesive attached to the foam ring. The seal assembly may further include a solid foam disc having a first slit therethrough and a second slit therethrough, wherein the first slit is perpendicular to the second slit and the solid foam disc is attached to the foam ring by the double-sided adhesive layer.

Dispense-end seal for toner containers

An approach is provided for reducing an amount of residual toner remaining in a rotating container. The approach involves rotating a rotatable vessel configured to contain a toner. The rotatable vessel includes a body section having a substantially round cross-section, a first end at one axial end of the body section, a second end axially distal the first end, and helical features on an internal surface of the body section configured to transport the toner in an axial direction between the first end and the second end as the vessel is rotated. The approach also involves causing, at least in part, at least a portion of the toner to be agitated by an insert configured to tumble and rotate within an inside portion of the rotatable vessel as the rotatable vessel rotates.

Method and apparatus for reducing residual toner in a rotating container

An approach is provided for reducing an amount of residual toner remaining in a rotating container. The approach involves causing a rotatable vessel configured to contain a toner to be rotated by way of a drive train. The rotatable vessel includes a body section having a substantially round cross-section, a first end at one axial end of the body section, a second end axially distal the first end, and helical features on an internal surface of the body section configured to transport at least a portion of the toner in an axial direction between the first end and the second end as the rotatable vessel is rotated. The approach also involves causing the drive train to impart a periodic pulse to the rotatable vessel. The periodic pulse causes at least a portion of the toner contained by the rotatable vessel to be agitated.

An apparatus, method and system are provided for carrying and dispensing an ink into a printing system. A system configured to dispense an ink comprises an ink carrying apparatus having a container, a movable cover, a unit monitor, a film, and a locking tab. The system also comprises a docking station configured to accept the ink carrying apparatus and engage the locking tab when the movable cover is in an open position. The system further comprises a processor configured to communicate with the unit monitor to facilitate a movement of the movable cover from a closed position to the open position. Based on a detection of a type of ink in the container, the movable cover is allowed to be moved from the closed position to the open position so as to facilitate removal of the film and cause the ink to be dispensed.

A device protection system for a device that operates using a replaceable component provided with a replaceable component, component monitor, and a means for disabling the replaceable component. The component monitor is provided with a storage unit, a sensing unit, a determination unit and a control unit that engages a disabling device for rendering the replaceable component inoperable in, or incompatible with, a device within which the replaceable component is intended to operate such as, an image forming device. In particular, the component monitors the temperature of an environment relating to the replaceable component that if exceeded, will affect performance of the replaceable component. The component will disable the disabling unit to protect the device.

A cylindrical-shaped particle dispenser cartridge includes a dispenser nozzle. The dispenser nozzle outer surface includes sealing ribs that surround an included nozzle opening. The dispenser nozzle is arranged to engage a shutter that slides over the sealing ribs, thus sealing the nozzle opening. When the cartridge rotates about the cartridge axial in a shutter-opening or leading direction (X) with respect to the shutter, the sealing ribs move in a like direction with respect to the shutter, thus unsealing the particle dispenser cartridge nozzle opening. The dispenser cartridge is arranged to dispense particles such as, for example, toner particles. The dispenser nozzle outer surface includes outer shutter rails disposed on inboard and outboard sides of the sealing ribs.

This is a magnetic developer purification structure that is used along with other stations positioned in the path of an electrostatic moving belt or drum in an electrostatic marking system. This purification structure may be a separate station or may be part of the development station provided it supplies purified developer to the development station prior to developer contacting the latent image on the drum or belt. The purification structure will agitate the developer mix to form a homogenous mixture of toner and carrier. This mixture is magnetically treated to separate less magnetically attracted contaminants from the remainder of the mixture. The contaminants are removed from the mix and substantially pure developer is then available for contact with the latent image.

A butterfly-type valve for controlling toner material flow to a toner container, including, a valve plate which is pivotally disposed in an elongate flow path defined by a passage way, wherein the valve plate is pivotal from a closed position which substantially closes a fluid communication along the path to an open position which maximally permitting fluid communication along the path, a gap area defined between the valve plate and the passage way when the valve plate is in the closed position which allows minimum toner material flow therethrough without compressing the toner material, and a pump for supplying air to the gap area when the valve plate is in the closed position to stop the minimum toner material flow.

This is a test procedure for detecting contaminants or a method for removing contaminants from toner to be used in an electrophotographic marking system. The method simulates the mixing and separation of contaminants that occur in an actual development system. It has been determined that contaminants in toner have tribo properties that prevent strong adherence of these contaminants to the carrier whereas purified toner has tribo properties that permit stronger adherence to the carrier. A separation procedure and method is thereby used to remove or identify contaminants.
