A self cleaning valve assembly includes a valve body having an internal valve cavity. A cylinder member received in the valve cavity has a first sealing surface and a cylinder wall, and divides the valve cavity into a liquid-free cavity portion and a flow cavity portion. A spindle includes a spindle body contacting the first sealing surface to continuously prevent pressurized fluid in the flow cavity portion from entering the liquid-free cavity portion. A spindle piston end has a wiper member in a receiving groove frictionally contacting the cylinder wall. A handle pinned to the valve assembly directly contacts the piston end. Handle rotation displaces the spindle from a valve closed to a valve open position permitting pressurized fluid flow into the flow cavity portion. The wiper member wipes a contaminant off the cylinder wall and further prevents contaminant entrance into the liquid-free cavity portion.

Self cleaning valve assembly

A water chilling system includes a reservoir having an inlet and an outlet and a cooling device, such as a thermoelectric cooling probe, situated to cool water contained in the reservoir. A baffle is situated adjacent the inlet to direct water entering the reservoir to a predetermined area of the reservoir such the warmer water entering the reservoir does not immediately mix with the chilled water near the cooling probe.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a hot water dispenser capable of heating water to near boiling temperatures (e.g., 205&deg; F. to 212&deg; F.). When water at near boiling temperatures is required, a secondary heating element is activated. The secondary heating element is in thermally coupled to the dispensing tube so that the water in the tube may be further heated as it passes through the dispensing tube from the tank to the dispensing outlet. Heating the water to near boiling just prior to its being dispensed reduces energy costs because the near boiling temperature water is not stored and allowed to cool. Additionally, the need for expensive insulation or expensive thermostats is eliminated.

Supercharged hot water heater

A heating tank assembly for a hot water dispenser having a tank body, an electric heating element, a magnetic switch, and a movable float. The tank body has a plurality of walls and a main heating chamber for storing and heating water. At least a portion of the electric heating element is located within the main heating chamber of the tank body. The magnetic switch is electrically connected to the heating element and acts as a protective switch to the heating element. The movable float is located within the tank body and has a magnet that closes the magnetic switch when sufficient water is present in the tank. The heating tank assembly may also include at least one thermal cutout device. The thermal cutout device acts as a backup and will shut off the heating element if the heating element reaches a preset maximum temperature. The present invention also includes a method for determining whether a heating tank assembly of a hot water dispenser has little or no water by including a step of moving the float to or from the magnetic switch and closing the magnetic switch when sufficient water is present in the tank body. The present invention also includes a method for manufacturing a heating tank assembly of a hot water dispenser.

Apparatus and method for protecting a heating tank assembly of a hot water dispenser

A hot water dispensing system comprises a one-piece plastic tank having a main heating chamber, an expansion chamber, and an air collection chamber. The air collection chamber is disposed generally below the expansion chamber and alongside the main heating chamber. The main heating chamber is in fluid communication with the expansion chamber and the air collection chamber. The hot water dispensing system also includes a temperature control system having a heating element, a metal temperature sensing bracket, and a thermostat. The heating element is disposed within the plastic tank and connected to a metal temperature sensing bracket disposed outside the tank. The excellent conductive properties of a metal sheath that connects the metal temperature sensing bracket to the heating element allow the metal temperature sensing bracket to simulate changes in the temperature of water in the tank. The thermostat is mounted to the metal temperature sensing bracket and measures a temperature of the metal temperature sensing bracket and activates or deactivates a heating element in response to the measured temperature of the metal temperature sensing bracket.

One-piece plastic tank and temperature control system for a hot water dispenser

The present invention presents a heat dissipating system for protecting a hot water tank dispenser from damage during a dry operation. The dispenser includes a hot water tank with a plastic wall. The hot water tank contains a heating element extending through a plurality of bushings mounted to the plastic wall. The heat dissipating system comprises at least one heat dissipation plate mounted to the plastic wall by the bushing and isolated from the heating element by the bushing.
