A comb copolymer with a polymer backbone having grafted lateral macromonomer segments, the method of preparing, and the use thereof as a thickener in cosmetics. The polymer backbone is more than 55% and up to 90% molar ATBS, between 1% and 20% molar cationic monomer or monomer of formula (I): CH&#x2550;C(R)&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;Y&#x2014;(CH)m-N(R) (R), where m is between 1 and 4, Y is O or NH, R1 is H or CH, and Rand Rare each a methyl or ethyl radical, and optionally 0.005% to 1% molar of at least one cross-linking monomer with at least two C&#x2550;C bonds. The lateral macromonomer segments are polymerized from 9% to 30% molar of N-alkyl acrylamide or N,N-dialkyl acrylamide of formula (II): CH&#x2550;C(R)&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;N(R) (R), where Ris H or CHand Rand Rare H or a Cto Calkyl radical, with at least one of Ror Rnot being H.

Ampholytic polymers having a thermosensitive character

Disclosed is a self-reversible reverse latex including: a) 25-80% by mass of a cross-linked anionic polyelectrolyte (P), resulting from the polymerization, for 100 mole percent: i)&#x2014;of a molar proportion &#x2265;30% and &#x2264;95% of monomeric units from at least one monomer including a free, partially- or totally-salified strong acid function; and ii)&#x2014;of a molar proportion &#x3e;0% and &#x2264;5% of at least one monomer with diethylenic or polyethylenic cross-linking; b) 0.5-10% by mass of a terpolymer of stearyl methacrylate, pentacosaethoxylated behenyl methacrylate and N,N-dimethylacrylamide, resulting from the polymerization, for 100 mole percent: of 80-95 mole percent of stearyl methacrylate, of 2.5-10 mole percent of N,N-dimethylacrylamide, and of 2.5-10 mole percent of pentacosaethoxylated behenyl methacrylate, c) 5-40% by mass of at least one oil, and d) 0.1-40% by mass of water; method of preparing same and use thereof as a thickener.

Surfactant-free self-reversible reverse latex, and use of same as a thickening agent in a cosmetic composition

A cross-linked anionic polyelectrolyte resulting from the polymerization, for 100 mol %: (i) of a proportion no smaller than 30 mol % and smaller than 99.5 mol % monomer units from a monomer having a partially or totally salified strong acid function; (ii) of a proportion no smaller than 0.5 mol % and no greater than 5 mol % monomer units from at least one monomer having Formula (I): CH&#x2550;CH(CH)&#x2014;C(=0)&#x2014;OR(I), wherein Ri is an alkyl radical including 6 to 18 carbon atoms; (iii) of a proportion greater than 0 mol % and no greater than 5 mol % monomer units from at least one diethylene or polyethylene cross-linking monomer; and (iv) optionally, of a proportion smaller than 69.5 mol % monomer units from a neutral monomer. Also, a method for preparing the polyelectrolyte and to the use thereof as a thickener in topical compositions.

Powder polymer, method for the preparation thereof, and use as a thickener

A comb copolymer having a backbone of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, with grafted lateral side segments of poly(N-alkylacrylamide) or poly(N,N-dialkylacrylamide), is provided. A process for the preparation of the comb copolymer includes reacting a compound of formula (II) with a compound of formula (III) in a (tert-butanol)-water mixture, to obtain a poly(N-alkylacrylamide) or poly(N,N-dialkylacrylamide) telomere of formula (I); reacting in tert-butanol the telomer of formula (I) with an acid chloride of formula (IV) to obtain a solution of the macromonomer of formula (V); and copolymerizing in tert-butanol the macromonomer of formula (V) with an ammonium salt of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid.

Comb copolymer and process for the preparation thereof

A linear, branched or cross-linked anionic polyelectrolyte, resulting from the polymerisation, for 100 molar percentage: a) 50% to 99% of monomeric units including a strong, free and partially or completely salified acid function ; b) 1% to 50% of a monomeric units of formula (I): CH&#x2550;CH(R1)-C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;(CH2)n-CF3 (I), wherein R1 represents H or CH, and n is 1, 2 or 3; c) optionally greater than 0% to 5% of monomeric units of formula (II): R2-C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;[(CH2-CH(R4)-O]m-R3 (II), wherein m is 0 to 50, R2 represents an unsaturated aliphatic monovalent radical with 2 to 4 carbon atoms, R4 represents H, CHor CHCHand R3 represents a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon aliphatic radical with 8 to 30 carbon atoms, and d) optionally greater than 0% to 5% of at least one monomer with diethylenic or polyethylenic cross-linking. The use thereof as a thickener in topical compositions.

An anionic polyelectrolyte resulting from the polymerization, for 100% by mass of: a) a mass ratio &#x2267;70% and &#x2266;98.5% of monomeric units from a monomer with a strong acid function; b) a mass ratio &#x2267;0.5% and &#x2266;10%, &#x2014;either of a monomer of formula (1a) : R&#x2014;(CH)3-Si(CH)2-[0-Si(CH)2-]O&#x2014;Si(CH)&#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;R (1a), wherein R represents the monovalent radical: -(0-CH2-CH2-)x[0-CH&#x2014;CH(CH3)-]yO&#x2014;C(&#x2550;0)-CH&#x2550;CH;&#x2014;or (Ib): Si(CH)-[0-Si(CH)2-]m[0-Si(CH)[(CH)&#x2014;R]&#x2014;]O&#x2014;Si(CH)(Ib), c) a mass ratio &#x2267;1% and &#x2266;20% of a monomer of formula (II) : CH&#x2550;CH(R1)-C(&#x2550;0)-0-(CH)n-CF(II), formula (I) wherein radical Ri represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, and n is equal to 1, 2 or 3; d) optionally a mass ratio &#x3e;0% and &#x2266;5% of monomeric units from a monomer of formula (III): R&#x2014;C(&#x2550;0)-0-[(CH&#x2014;CH(R)-0]m-R(III), e) optionally a mass ratio &#x3e;0% and &#x2266;5% of a cross-linking monomer, method for its preparation and use as a thickener in topical compositions.

A self-reversible reverse latex, and its use as a thickener. The self-reversible reverse latex includes: 50%-70 of a cross-linked polyelectrolyte obtained by the polymerization of a monomer of formula (I), with R1 being 8 to 20 carbon atoms and 1&#x2266;n&#x2266;30 for a neutral monomer, and a monomer having an acid function; 4%-10% of a water-in-oil emulsifier; 1%-10% of an oil-in-water emulsifier including a surface-active composition (C); 15%-45% oil; and 0%-5% water. Composition (C) is 10%-50% composition (C) and 50%-90% composition(C). Composition(C) is 60%-100% of a composition of formula (II), with R2 being a 12 carbon alkyl, T, T, and Tbeing H or a (&#x2014;CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014;)&#x2014;H radical with 0&#x2266;mi&#x2266;10 and 0&#x3c;&#x3a3;mi&#x2266;10. Composition (C) is 60%-100% of a compound of formula (III) or mixtures of (III) and (IV), with R2 being as defined previously.

Cationic thickeners, free of oil and surfactants, method for preparing same and composition containing same

A novel composition made of polyalkoxylated derivatives of trimethylolpropane and fatty alcohols, the composition lending itself to the preparation thereof and to the use thereof as a reversing agent for a reversible reverse latex.

A composition in the form of a positive latex includes: a) 50-80 wt. % of at least one cross-linked, branched, or linear organic polymer (P), b) 5-10 wt. % of a water-in-oil (W/O) emulsifying system (S), c) 5-45 wt. % of at least one oil, and d) 0-5 wt. % of water. Between 0.01 mol. % and 10 mol. % of the monomeric patterns of the monomer P include at least one neutral monomer of formula (I): C(R)(R)&#x2550;C(R)&#x2014;C(&#x2550;O)&#x2014;O&#x2014;(CH&#x2014;CH&#x2014;O)&#x2014;R(I) wherein the radicals R, Rand R, which are the same or different, independently represent a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched alkyl radical including between 1 and 4 carbon atoms, the radical Rrepresents a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic radical including between 6 and 30 carbon atoms, and n represents a number between 1 and 50. A production method and use are also described.

A method for the treatment of rock formations which may or may not be underground and, more particularly, of oil or gas production wells, water-injection wells intended to flood hydrocarbon (oil or gas) reservoirs or gas mines or gas storage wells includes a step of injecting, into the rock formation or well, a microgel obtained by dilution in water of a self-invertible inverse latex or of a self-invertible inverse microlatex of a crosslinked polyelectrolyte, obtained by copolymerization, in the presence of a crosslinking agent of partially- or totally-salified free 2-methyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]-1-propanesulfonic acid, with at least one cationic monomer chosen from: 2,N,N,N-tetramethyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]propanammonium chloride; N,N,N-trimethyl-3-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)amino]propanammonium chloride; diallyldimethylammonium chloride; N,N,N-trimethyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-propenyl)]ethanammonium chloride; N,N,N-trimethyl-2-[(1-oxo-2-methyl-2-propenyl)]ethanammonium chloride; or N,N,N-trimethyl-3-[(1-oxo-2-methyl-2-propenyl)amino]propanammonium chloride; and with at least one neutral monomer chosen from: acrylamide; N,N-dimethylacrylamide; N-[2-hydroxy-1,1-bis(hydroxymethyl)-ethyl]propenamide; or 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate.
