A propeller hub assembly for a marine drive having a propeller shaft is provided. The propeller hub assembly includes a first hub portion having a first main body and multiple propeller blades extending radially therefrom, a second hub portion, wherein the second hub portion is coupled to the first hub portion, and a damper hub portion, wherein the damper hub portion is coupled to the second hub portion. The propeller hub assembly further includes multiple pendulum masses located within the damper hub portion. The first hub portion, the second hub portion, and the damper hub portion are configured to engage the propeller shaft such that rotation of the propeller shaft causes rotation of the first hub portion, the second hub portion, and the damper hub portion. Oscillations of the pendulum masses relative to the damper hub portion are configured to dampen torsional vibrations of the propeller hub assembly.

A system for draining a cooling system of a power generation system on a marine vessel includes a pump in fluid communication with the cooling system, the pump actively removing cooling water from the cooling system. An outlet drain discharges the cooling water. A controller starts the pump in response to an operator command to stop a prime mover of the marine power generation system and/or a speed of the prime mover being below a threshold speed. In one example, a temperature sensor determines a temperature of the cooling water in the cooling system, and the controller stops the pump in response to the temperature of the cooling water exceeding a threshold temperature. In another example, a sensor determines a pressure and/or a level of the cooling water in the cooling system, and the controller stops the pump in response to the pressure and/or the level of the cooling water dropping below a threshold pressure or a threshold level, respectively.

Cooling system for a power generation system on a marine vessel

A cooling system for a marine inboard internal combustion engine includes at least one engine cooling passage disposed in thermal communication with heat emitting portions of the engine. A pump is in fluid communication with the at least one engine cooling passage. The pump draws cooling water out of the at least one engine cooling passage. At least one outlet drain is downstream of the pump for discharging the cooling water that was pumped out of the at least one cooling passage. A switch activates the pump in response to the following: an operator command to stop the engine and/or a speed of the engine being below a threshold speed.

Active draining of engine cooling system

A marine engine has first and second banks of piston-cylinders, and first and second cooling water passages that convey cooling water in parallel alongside the first and second banks of piston-cylinders, respectively. A cooling water pump pumps the cooling water through the first and second cooling water passages. A first temperature-responsive valve is configured to discharge the cooling water from both of the first and second cooling water passages when the cooling water reaches a first temperature threshold. A second temperature-responsive valve is configured to discharge the cooling water from both of the first and second cooling water passages when the cooling water reaches a second temperature threshold that is greater than the first temperature threshold.

An outboard marine engine comprises an anti-ventilation plate; a torpedo housing that is disposed below the anti-ventilation plate; and a gearcase strut that extends from the anti-ventilation plate to the torpedo housing. The gearcase strut has a leading end, a trailing end, and opposing outer surfaces that extend from the leading end to the trailing end. A flow separator is on each outer surface. The flow separator is located closer to the trailing end than the leading end and causes flow of water across the gearcase strut to separate from the outer surface.

An apparatus is for supporting a marine engine and has a transom bracket having a body section, a head section extending transversely relative to the body section, a neck section disposed between the body section and the head section, and a transition portion along an inside surface of the neck section. A reinforcement member is connected to the neck section and relieves tensile stress on the transition portion when the transom bracket supports the marine engine.

Apparatuses for supporting marine engines

A marine propulsion device is provided with an air control system that draws air from the region under the cowl of the outboard motor and induces a flow of air out of the region. The air is caused to flow through a second opening formed in the cowl. As a result, air drawn into the cowl through a first opening can flow either into the engine through its throttle body mechanism or out of the space under the cowl, as induced by the operation of the fan.
