A showcase member of a glass showcase, the showcase member including a first portion having a plurality of apertures, a light emitting diode (LED) module positioned at one or more of the plurality of apertures and mounted to the showcase member, and a wiring harness electrically connected to the LED module, and configured to electrically connect the LED module to an LED driver circuit. The showcase member can include a second portion integral to the first portion and having tapers forming light shields protruding from the showcase member.

A ceramic arc body includes a main body having a chamber. A leg extends from the main body and has an internal opening therethrough that communicates with the chamber. An electrically non-conductive seal member is received in the leg opening. A tapered internal surface abuttingly engages the seal member and provides for centering of the seal member relative to the leg. A separate tapering region, shoulder, or stop surface limits insertion of the seal member into the leg opening for precision location of the seal member, and in another embodiment, a single continuous taper inside the leg cooperates with a tapered seal member for both centering and precision insertion of the seal member into the leg. In another embodiment, a hybrid electrode is employed where one portion of the hybrid electrode is electrically non-conductive and a second portion of the electrode is electrically conductive. The hybrid electrode mechanically supports both the lamp and the starting coil and also provides electrical connection to the starting coil.

Seal and leg design for ceramic induction lamp

An electrodeless or induction ceramic HID lamp includes a ceramic arc body having a generally spheroidal portion enclosing a discharge chamber and an induction coil received around a perimeter portion of the spheroidal portion. At least one leg extends from the spheroidal portion of the arc body. A mounting structure connects the arc body to the surrounding lamp assembly. In one arrangement, a mounting tube is received over at least a portion of the leg, and may further include a light transmissive shroud that also abuts with the induction coil to precisely locate the arc body relative to the coil. In another arrangement, first and second mounting members extend from spaced locations of the arc body, either as pins or legs extending from the spheroidal portion, or radially extending legs from an equatorial portion of the arc body. In still another arrangement, a ceramic mounting member extends from the arc body and includes a thin peripheral rim having spaced ridges to engage spaced locations of the induction coil.

Method and apparatus for positioning a ceramic induction discharge body relative to an induction coil

A metal halide lamp () includes a discharge vessel () which may be formed of a ceramic material. The vessel defines an interior space (). An ionizable fill () is disposed in the interior space. The ionizable fill includes an inert gas, mercury, and a halide component. The halide component includes an alkali metal halide, an alkaline earth metal halide component, and optionally at least one of a rare earth halide and a Group IIIA halide. The alkaline earth metal halide component includes at least one of a barium halide and a strontium halide. At least one electrode () is positioned within the discharge vessel so as to energize the fill when an electric current is applied thereto. The lamp having a wall loading, when energized, which is sufficient to maintain an active tungsten halogen cycle.
