The apparatus for the manufacture of leno fabrics ( ) in a weaving machine comprises a needle bar ( ) for ground threads ( ), at least one insertion element ( ) for leno threads ( ) and means for the insertion of weft threads ( ). A pivotal arrangement ( ) is connected directly to a main drive ( ) of the weaving machine. The insertion element and the needle bar can be moved by means of this pivotal arrangement, so that the movement sequence which is required for the ground thread and leno thread results.

Apparatus for the manufacture of leno fabrics

In the method a weft thread which is supplied via a thread brake and a thread presenter is inserted into a shed by means of rapiers with a thread clamp, with the thread clamp being set in a freely selectable manner for each weft insertion during the weft insertion. This makes it possible to insert weft yarns of different types and thickness into a shed. The system comprises a rapier (1) with a thread clamp (4) and an arrangement (4) with a first apparatus (11) for setting the thread clamp and with a second apparatus (21) for the actuation of the first apparatus.

Method and apparatus for adjustable weft thread insertion in rapier

A thread holder comprises two holding members which form a gap that has a round cross-sectional shape and increasing width. Each of the thread holders is journalled on the other holding member at at least one bearing location which is executed as a bearing surface. With this arrangement the journalled holding member can easily assume a holding position that is ideal for a thread being used. The thread holder is suitable in particular for a bringer rapier of a rapier weaving machine.

A weft yarn (1) leaving a stationary stock bobbin (2) is led through a compressed-air nozzle (6) and a deflector element (16) movable transversely to the direction of weft insertion (arrow 9), to the weft insertion mechanism (11) of a projectile loom. After each weft insertion the weft yarn (1) becomes deflected by the deflector element (16) from a yarn path (1a) running stretched into a cranked yarn path (1c) and returned towards the stretched yarn path (1a) during a following weft insertion. During a predetermined fraction of the weaving cycle which comprises the return of the weft yarn (1) into the stretched yarn path (1a), the compressed-air nozzle (6) is acted upon by compressed air so that the weft yarn (1) is additionally accelerated for a short time. After the return of the weft yarn (1) the compressed air feed to the compressed-air nozzle (1) becomes blocked during the remaining part of the weaving cycle. A gentle guidance of the weft yarn is thereby guaranteed with minimum consumption of compressed air and with a simple nozzle arrangement, and the occurrence of a 'snatch' upon stretching the weft yarn is prevented. The method is particularly suitable for the processing of sensitive yarn material in looms of high weft insertion power.

Method and apparatus for limiting stresses in weft yarn advancing

A weft yarn store for a loom comprises a drum adapted to receive a weft yarn supply, a winder for winding weft yarn on the drum and means for retaining the weft yarn at the runoff end of the drum upon the completion of picking. A retaining element of the retaining means is adjustable by means of a controllable drive in the peripheral direction of the drum. When this element moves together with the running-off yarn during the braking thereof, the yarn can be retained smoothly. The weft yarn can therefore be metered accurately and smoothly.

Weft yarn store for a loom

A loom left yarn store receives yarn being supplied from a weft package (5) and makes the stored yarn supply available to be drawn off from the store intermittently for picking into the shed of a loom. The store includes a stationary drum (11) which is supported by way of its outer periphery and which is adapted to receive a yarn supply (51) to be stored. A winding element (14) rotates around the drum periphery (111) and has an element (142) for entraining the weft yarn (52). One or more yarn entraining elements (142) can be brought into and out of operation in accordance with a program and when in operation can wind yarn on the drum periphery (111). The drum (11) is supported by way of its outer periphery horizontally by magnets or vertically by means of brushes. The winding element (14) is a ring which rotates continuously around the drum periphery and from which at least one pin (142) engages periodically in a recess (111) in the drum. The store contains few mechanical means and the retaining or securing elements (142, 152) requiring intermittent actuation are of reduced mass.

The arrangement is operative to pick at least one weft yarn for weaving machines and comprises a pair of weft yarn tensioning devices the second of which provides a loop of yarn whose length is equal to the length of weft yarn transferred by the main nozzle to the projectile and which is released for transfer to the projectile before the first tensioning device releases the weft yarn for picking. The second tensioning device draws back an equally long portion of the weft yarn after picking. The arrangement prevents a weft yarn end from not being transferred from the nozzle to the projectile so that the weft yarn is not picked.

Picking arrangement for a weaving machine

The weft yarn picking channel is constructed for use in pneumatic weaving machines. In one embodiment, the picking channel is formed of discrete guide elements of wire construction which are secured on a sley. In another embodiment, the guide elements can be incorporated in a reed via bends in the reed wires.

The weft yarn tensioning device is employed in a weft changing operation for a weaving machine. The tensioning device has a rod which oscillates at the cadence of the weaving machine transversely of the weft yarn group. The rod deflects the yarns to retaining elements which hold the deflected yarns during upward movement of the rod. A control device is provided for the retaining elements whereby the weft yarn which is to be picked can be released during the upward movement of the rod. The retaining elements can be electromagnetically operated or mechanically operated.

Weft yarn tensioning device

The air distributor and control unit contains a stator with an outlet port and a rotor which is rotatably mounted within the stator with an opening to permit a flow of air to the outlet port. A control element is provided between the rotor and stator to control the supply of medium from a pressure chamber to the outlet port. The control element may be in the form of interfitting shell type members which can be adjusted to change the beginning, end and/or duration of blowing for a given nozzle.

The gripper projectile has a yarn clamp with clamping jaws which, when opened to receive a weft yarn, bound a flow duct. The duct is disposed in communication with air exit orifices in the casing of the projectile so that air which is injected by a yarn supplying device and entraining the weft yarn end flows through the duct without turbulance. The clamping jaws may be provided with recesses for ducts to further center the delivered weft yarn. In other embodiments, inserts may be provided within the projectile casing to form nozzles for the flow of air to the exit orifices.

Gripper clamp projectile

The gripper projectile has a spring-biased clamping member which is biased against a guide nozzle into which a weft yarn is blown in by a weft yarn supplying nozzle. The clamping member is provided with an aperture which enables a projectile opener to be introduced to retract the clamping member from the nozzle to permit the nozzle to directly communicate with discharge orifices in the side walls of the projectile. With the clamping member in the retracted position, a weft yarn end can be delivered while the yarn entraining air is immediately discharged along with any fluff that may be carried by the air stream.

The weft yarn storage device has a yarn advancer (15) having a yarn guide in the form of a hollow cylinder (14) which deposits the weft yarn (10) in the form of a loop having two parallel arms (28, 29) on a respective drum (1, 4). To pick the weft yarn an electromagnet (8) is energized, armature (7) thereof disengaging the drums (1, 4) from one another so that the loop (27) released from the drums (1, 4) can be picked by the rotating picking drum (17) and by the picking nozzle (19). The weft yarns storage device makes it possible for weft yarn storage times to be other than 180.degree..

Weft yarn storage device for weaving machines

The dyeing apparatus effects a programmed dyeing pattern on the travelling strip. This apparatus includes a housing provided with a through channel for passage of the travelling strip through a treatment station in the housing. Treatment medium such as a dye is delivered to the treatment station via a channel perpendicular to the strip. In addition, compressed air is delivered to the treatment station via a funnel-shaped channel downstream of the station to remove excess dye from the yarn and to obtain a clean well-defined dyed area on the strip. A similar funnel-shaped channel upstream of the treatment station serves to seal the elongated channel against the treatment medium. Also, an exhaust channel is provided to remove excess treatment medium and air.
