A system is provided for emulating return optical pulses from at least one emulated target in response to a time of flight (TOF) lidar signal. The system includes an optical blocker configured to partially reflect or guide emitted optical pulses emitted by a TOF lidar sensor; a detector configured to detect the partially reflected or guided optical pulses, and to output corresponding electrical pulses; an electrical delay circuit configured to delay the electrical pulses to indicate distance to the at least one emulated target relative to the TOF lidar sensor; at least one laser configured to reemit return optical pulses in response to the delayed electrical pulses; a collimator configured to collimate the return optical pulses; and a diffuser configured to diffuse the collimated return optical pulses over a predetermined range of azimuthal angles toward the TOF lidar sensor.

System and method for emulating echo signals for lidar sensor

Systems and components for testing a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) device under test (DUT) are described. In one example, an ellipsoid is adapted to receive the LIDAR DUT at a first focal point, where light transmitted from the LIDAR DUT is incident on the second focal point. In another example a plurality of optical waveguides arranged in at least a portion of a circle, and the plurality of optical waveguides are adapted to receive light from the LIDAR DUT. In another example, a LIDAR distance simulator is adapted to receive an optical input, and includes optical switches that are selectively connected to one of a plurality of optical delay devices to an input of the one of a plurality of optical input channels. Illustrative delay elements may be realized through optical delay elements or a combination of optical and electrical delay elements.

Lidar test systems

A method and system are provided for generating a trigger signal from a radar signal received over the air from a radar under test. The method includes detecting power of the radar signal received from the radar under test at a radio frequency (RF) power detector, the radar signal including multiple bursts of RF energy in a burst pattern; identifying repeating radar frames from the burst pattern using the detected power of the radar signal, each radar frame having at least one burst; and creating trigger signals corresponding to the radar frames, respectively, by synchronizing to the at least one burst in each radar frame.

Method and system for generating trigger signals from radar signal

A system for measuring voltage includes a pulse-width modulator or voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) configured to receive an input voltage waveform from a DUT, and to output a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal or frequency modulated (FM) signal mapped to the input voltage waveform, respectively; an optical transmitter configured to be modulated by the PWM signal or the FM signal to output an optical pulse signal having pulse widths corresponding to pulse widths of the PWM signal or equal to the frequency of the FM signal, respectively; an optical receiver configured to receive the optical pulse signal over an optical link and to convert the optical pulse signal to an electrical current; a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) configured to convert the electrical current to a voltage signal; and at least one filter or detection circuit configured to recover the input voltage waveform or provide numeric values corresponding to the input voltage waveform.

System for measuring voltage using pulse width modulator or voltage controlled oscillator

A device for detecting and selectively reflecting an incident microwave signal or millimeter-wave signal is disclosed. The device includes a plurality of antennae disposed in an array; and a diode disposed at each input of each antenna, each diode having an input adapted to selectively receive a reverse bias signal, or a zero bias signal, or a forward bias signal. The device also includes a switching device connected to each input, and configured to selectively apply the forward bias signal, or the reverse bias signal or the zero bias signal to each of the diodes. In forward bias, each of the plurality of antennae reflects the incident microwave signal or millimeter wave signal; and in zero bias or reverse bias each of the plurality of antennae detects the incident microwave signal or millimeter wave signal.

Millimeter-wave detect or reflect array

A device for selectively reflecting an incident microwave signal or millimeter-wave signal includes multiple antennae disposed in an array. Each antenna has an input adapted to selectively receive a forward bias signal or a zero bias signal. The device also includes a diode disposed at each input of each antenna. The device also includes a switching device connected to each input, and configured to selectively apply a forward bias or zero bias to each of the diodes. In forward bias, each of the antennae detects the incident microwave signal or millimeter wave signal, and in zero bias, each of the antennae reflects the incident microwave signal or millimeter wave signal.

A receiver and method for identifying the frequency of an RF component in an RF signal are disclosed. The receiver includes a first mixer that receives an RF signal and mixes that RF signal with a first multi-tone LO signal that includes a plurality of tones to generate a mixed signal. The output of the first mixer is filtered by a first filter that removes signals outside of a predetermined band to generate a first IF signal. A processor determines the RF frequency of the component utilizing the first IF signal and a second IF signal generated using a second multi-tone LO signal having a different plurality of tones from said first multi-tone signal. The first and second multi-tone LO signals can be generated by clocking suitable digital sequences into the mixer either by using different sequences or by using the same sequence clocked at a different rate.

Wideband receiver

An a data input system includes an encoded pad having position encoding and a data input device adapted to image a portion of the encoded pad to determine position and orientation of the data input device relative to the encoded pad. The encoding pad includes a plurality of correlation windows. Each correlation window includes a primary encoding marker in form of vertical line segment and a set of secondary encoding markers in form of diagonal line segments, at least one diagonal line segment intersecting the vertical line segment at an intersection angle. Spacing of the diagonal line segments encodes the X-axis position of the input device relative to the encoding pad. Intersection angle encodes the Y-axis position of the input device relative to the encoding pad. Angle of the primary encoding marker vertical line segment within the frame of the captured image encodes the angular orientation of the input device relative to the axes of the encoded pad.

System for determining pointer position, movement, and angle

A system to control the fixed mass/spring mechanical resonance of the motor in conjunction with a model of the motor that estimates the present position and allows the determination of the motor stator voltage pattern which will produce the requested output force. This approach effectively eliminates the electrical restoring force from the motor dynamics and minimizes the problems associated with the varying resonant frequency of the motor.

System for controlling an electrostatic stepper motor

An upconverting circuit is disclosed. The upconverting circuit includes a polyphase component generator that provides Npolyphase components at each input polyphase cycle, wherein N&#x3e;2 on each input polyphase cycle defined by a clock. A memory stores the polyphase components from at least one polyphase cycle prior to the current polyphase cycle. A plurality of filters process the polyphase components stored in the memory. Each filter processes a plurality of the polyphase components to generate a filtered polyphase component corresponding to that filter. A multiplexer outputs the filtered polyphase components in a predetermined order to generate a filtered output signal. In one embodiment, each filter utilizes the same functional relationship to generate the filtered polyphase components. In another embodiment, the memory is a shift register. The filters can be of arbitrary complexity.

Digital modulator employing a polyphase up-converter structure

A digital-to-analog converting system for producing an interleaved analog signal with enhanced bandwidth includes a first digital-to-analog converter for receiving a first digital data stream and converting the first digital data stream to a first analog signal and a second digital-to-analog converter for receiving a second digital data stream and converting the second digital data stream to a second analog signal. The digital-to-analog converting system is clocked by a clock signal having a clock period, and further includes first timing circuitry for receiving the first analog signal and outputting the first analog signal for a first half of the clock period and second timing circuitry for receiving the second analog signal and outputting the second analog signal for a second half of the clock period to produce the interleaved analog signal.

Bandwidth enhancement by time interleaving multiple digital to analog converters

A test measurement system and method which uses parallel digital samples of an input measurement signal to determine a trigger point for a predetermined trigger waveform. The system correlates the predetermined trigger waveform with digital samples of the input measurement signal. The result of this correlation is then used to identify a trigger point. Generally the point in time where the trigger waveform has the strongest correlation with the digital samples identifies the desired trigger point. This trigger point is then used to identify the selected measurement data, where the selected measurement data corresponds to the digital samples obtained at the trigger point time.

System and method for generating triggers based on predetermined trigger waveform and a measurement signal

A sensor and method for using the same is disclosed. The sensor includes an optical cavity defined by first and second mirrors that have a spacing therebetween that varies in response to a force applied to the sensor and to a control voltage. The sensor has a drive circuit that measures light leaving an output port that samples light in said cavity and applies the control voltage to the optical cavity such that the spacing between the mirrors remains at a predetermined value independent of the force, the control voltage determining an output signal that provides a measurement of the force applied to the optical cavity. In one embodiment, the first mirror is fixed to the second mirror by a spring mechanism that causes the first mirror to move away from the second mirror, and the control voltage causes the first mirror to move toward the second mirror.
