A rotorcraft flight simulator system includes physical flight control devices for a rotorcraft vehicle. Each of the flight control devices is configured to generate, when actuated, one or more control signals via an output connector of that flight control device. The system includes a programmable interface with multiple input pins, and each of the output connectors is coupled to a respective input pin. The programmable interface includes a controller configured to attribute particular control signals received at a particular input pin to a specific flight control device. The system includes a flight simulator computer configured to receive output signals from the controller via an Ethernet port. The output signals include, for the specific flight control device, header information indicating the specific flight control device and flight control data corresponding to a particular control signal received at the particular input pin that is associated with the specific flight control device.

Programmable interface for flight control devices

A processing system for a flight simulator includes a non-transitory memory and a processor. The non-transitory memory is configured to store computer-executable instructions for a host process and a ScramNet-to-Ethernet application programming interface (API). The processor is communicatively coupled to a ScramNet interface and the non-transitory memory, and is configured to execute the host process and the ScramNet-to-Ethernet API to: convert, using the ScramNet-to-Ethernet API, a user interface message to a first ScramNet message on the ScramNet bus, process, using the host process, the first ScramNet message to generate a second ScramNet message on the ScramNet bus.

Flight simulator and method of use

A processing system for a flight simulator includes a ScramNet interface, a non-transitory memory, and a processor. The ScramNet interface is configured to establish a ScramNet bus on which ScramNet messages are transmitted and received. The non-transitory memory is configured to store computer-executable instructions for a host process and a ScramNet-to-Ethernet application programming interface (API). The processor is communicatively coupled to the ScramNet interface and the non-transitory memory, and is configured to execute the host process and the ScramNet-to-Ethernet API to: convert, using the ScramNet-to-Ethernet API, a flight control message to a first ScramNet message on the ScramNet bus, process, using the host process, the first ScramNet message to generate a second ScramNet message on the ScramNet bus, and convert, using the ScramNet-to-Ethernet API, the second ScramNet message to a display message.

Systems and methods are provided for determining a final heading of a turning vehicle, such as a rotorcraft. The system may include an algorithm that calculates an advance prediction of a final heading that will be achieved after control input is terminated. The system may also include a device, such as a display, for conveying predicted final heading information to an aircraft controller, such as a pilot.
