There is provided a photostimulable phosphor according to formula (I):

A phosphor screen is provided, characterised in that said screen comprises at least one organozinc compound corresponding to the following general formula I: ##STR1## wherein: A=either carbon or phosphorus

A phosphor screen is provided comprising a satiblizer being an organic compound or an oligomeric or polymeric compound comprising moieties corresponding to the following general formula I: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 each independently represent a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl- or aryl group, R.sup.5 represents hydrogen or a substituted or unsibstituted alkyl group and Z represents the atoms necessary to form a substituted or unsubstituted 5 to 8 membered ring.

A photostimulable X-ray energy absorbing halosilicate phosphor, characterized in that said phosphor contains as host metal at least one alkaline earth metal, as halogen at least one member selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br and I, as dopant Eu.sup.2+ and lithium as co-dopant.
