Methods, programs products and systems are provided for presenting retrieved search engine results text items to a user on a display device through a graphical user interface configured to associate displayed text items with a search term modification action. Selecting a displayed text item through a graphical user interface component cursor routine automatically instigates modifying of the search term through the associated modification action with the selected text item to generate a modified search term and causes a search engine component to search the modified search term and retrieve new search results similarly presented, enabling additional automatic iterations of search term modifying, searching and result presenting. Modifying a search term may occur automatically or through a selection from a generated list of revising actions, and presenting search results text items may include ordering and presenting a list of result text items relative to an occurrence frequency.

Enhanced search query modification

A solution for managing data in which historical execution information for a process is used to determine a set of data requirements for the process. The set of data requirements is then used to move data for the process from a slower storage device (e.g., a magnetic tape) to a faster storage device (e.g., a hard drive) before the process requests the data object (e.g., prefetch). In this manner, the prefetched data can be provided when requested by the process without delaying its execution while the data is moved from the slower storage device to the faster storage device.

Predictive data object retrieval

A system, method and program product for assigning management classes to data objects. The disclosed system includes a class assignment system for assigning a management class to an inputted data object, wherein the class assignment system analyzes historical usage characteristics of existing data objects that have attributes similar to the inputted data object; and a data analysis system that analyzes existing data objects to generate a knowledge base of historical usage characteristics. The historical usage characteristics are updated as existing objects make their way through the storage lifecycle.

Method for automated data storage management

The present invention is directed to the automated storage and retrieval of data. A method in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes: requesting a data record; broadcasting a query for the requested data record to a plurality of data records in a data center, the query comprising a unique listener key identifying the requested data record and information regarding a requesting program; providing each of the plurality of data records with a listener, wherein each listener actively monitors the broadcasted query to determine if the unique listener key in the broadcasted query matches a unique listener key of the data record associated with the listener; and in the case of a match, automatically transferring the data record with the matching unique listener key from the data center to the requesting program.

Automated storage and retrieval of data

A method and system is provided to dynamically adjust system administration criteria based upon current conditions of a transaction processing system. Granular autonomic administrative action relative to varying conditions results in more flexible response to particular system or transactional conditions. As certain criteria are met, at a system level, a transactional level, or a combination, appropriate action may be taken suitable to the particular condition encountered. A response more suited to a particular granular condition, provides for more focused event handling on a case by case basis rather than on a system-wide or undesired transient conditions. As a result, more efficient use of system resources occurs along with more reliable management of transactional processing.

Dynamic transaction control within a host transaction processing system

A facility for monitoring and controlling access of at least one entity to a computer system resource is provided employing at least one resource utilization threshold metric. The at least one resource utilization threshold metric is a workload characteristic of the computer system resource. Access of the at least one entity to the computer system resource is controlled in response to the at least one resource utilization threshold metric being met. The access control is automatic and may include at least one of assigning a lower priority to the entity in a computer resource scheduling algorithm, or waiting a predetermined period of time before the computer system resource provides a response to the at least one entity.
