An arrowhead of the expandable or mechanical broadhead type, i.e., having blades which unfold to increase the effective cutting area of the arrowhead, includes a tip with a rearwardly-extending actuating member which triggers one or more blades into an open state when the tip strikes a target game animal. The blades are pivotable with respect to a body into which the actuating member extends, and they include ears against which the actuating member presses upon tip impact to trigger the blades open. A latching spring maintains the blades in a closed state until the tip and actuating member are driven rearwardly by tip impact, and the tip and actuating member are preferably maintained in a forward and ready-to-trigger state by an opening spring. The actuating member may extend between the blade ears after the blades are triggered open to fix the blades in the open state until the tip is pulled forwardly to withdraw the actuating member from the ears.

A string release for providing accurate release of a tensioned bow string. The release has a pair of jaws which are retained and controlled by a pivot ball and a jaw cup. The pivot ball being mounted on a shaft which is attached to an inner race which is in turn contained within a ball housing. The inner race is positioned such that it may slide laterally within the ball housing. In the closed position, a number of balls retain the inner race in an aft position relative to the jaws. A trigger mechanism actuates a locking sleeve which allows the balls to move such that the inner race may slide forward, thereby allowing the jaw to open. The release further includes a trigger force adjusting mechanism that allows adjustment of the force required to activate the trigger mechanism.

An adjustable trigger pressure archery release including a bayonet mounted trigger utilizing an actuator ramp to reduce trigger travel. The caliper jaws and cam profile combine to create an automatic closing action to close the release, whereby rearward pulling or squeezing movement of the trigger engages the caliper jaws to an open bow string or string loop apparatus receiving condition, and relaxing or releasing movement of the trigger closes the caliper jaws into a string retaining position. The release includes an independent mechanism for permitting adjustment of the trigger pressure force, without affecting trigger travel including frictional means of maintaining selected setting. The release head is universally adjustable or lockable relative to a wrist strap or similar mounting.

Adjustable trigger pressure archery release (stealth)

The subject invention provides a bow string release mechanism over and under bow string retaining jaws and an axial adjustment mechanism for altering the distance of the jaws from a wrist strap. The release mechanism generally comprises a release mechanism, a wrist strap, and a rotatable shaft assembly joining the release mechanism and the wrist strap, wherein the axial distance between release mechanism and the wrist strap can be adjusted by axial rotation of the shaft assembly. The release mechanism comprises a trigger mechanism, a body in which the trigger mechanism is mounted and actuated and a sear head attached to the body and actuable by the trigger mechanism. The sear head has a first fixed over and under sear element and a second pivotally attached over and under sear element, movable relative to the first fixed sear element, into and out of engagement therewith upon actuation of the trigger mechanism. The rotatable shaft assembly comprises a threaded bore at one end of a shaft to engage an externally threaded adjusting rod attached to the wrist strap. The shaft is attached at its other end, via a ball and socket coupling, to the release mechanism. The ball and socket coupling permits the release mechanism to freely pivot about the end of the shaft assembly. The threaded bore of the shaft permits the distance between the release mechanism and the strap to be rotatingly adjusted to accommodate various hand sizes.

Over and under bow string release with axial adjustment

The invention provides an arrow nock receiver that forms a barrier around an arrow nock seated therein and physically separates the area in which the arrow nock seats from the area in which a bow string release may be attached. The receiver is defined by an arrow nock protection portion and a bow string release attachment portion. These portions are isolated from one another to prevent a bow string release from inadvertently dislodging an arrow nock seated within the receiver. The arrow nock portion is comprised of an open-mouthed first frame with opposing ends and an arcuate section. Disposed within the arcuate section is a flange. The flange is narrow enough to permit an arrow nock to seat over it, yet wide enough to prevent attachment of a release device. The bow string release attachment portion of the invention is comprised of a second frame integrally formed with, although offset from, the first frame of the arrow nock protection portion. In a second embodiment, the bow string release attachment portion is open-mouthed and positioned directly behind the first frame of the arrow nock portion. In a third embodiment, the bow string release attachment portion is a ball rather than the open-mouthed frame of the second embodiment. A forth embodiment provides a ball-shaped release attachment portion that is offset from the arrow nock portion. In a fifth embodiment, the flange of the first embodiment is replaced with a cylinder mounted within the first frame of the arrow nock protection portion of the device.

Receiver for arrow nock and release aid

The subject invention provides a bow string release mechanism that can be outfitted with various types of interchangeable sear heads. The release mechanism generally comprises a sear head and a universal base, within which is mounted a trigger, a trigger arm linked to the trigger, and a spring-loaded locking yoke. The standard elements of all sear heads include a spring-loaded activation shaft and tabs which are receivable within notches provided in the base. An interchangeable sear head is attached to the base by fitting the tabs of the head into the notches of the base and rotating the head relative to the base until the yoke locks the head into place. Although selectively removable, the sear head, once locked into position on the release mechanism, is fully rotatable relative to the base. A sear head is removed from the base by releasing the yoke from engagement with the sear head and rotating the sear head relative to the base until the tabs and the notches align.

Bow string release with interchangeable heads

A caliper bow string release with pivotal jaws includes holders at the outer ends of the jaws for mounting discreet and independent sear elements. The sear elements may be mounted in a fixed position relative to the holders or in a floating position relative to the holders. The sear elements may have a complex string-bearing surface conforming to the periphery and the shape of the string as it is engaged by the release mechanism. The sear elements may also be adapted to engage the string both above and below the nock of a typical arrow.

A bow string release includes elongate, cylindrical sears adapted for linear, axial movement into and out of a string retaining notch, the sears having ends which for a string centering retainer when in the closed, string retaining position. The latch system is designed to engage the sears below their center lines to minimize trigger travel. A trigger with a cam actuator is provided to further minimize trigger travel.

Bow string release

A bow string release with a head carrying a pivotable sear movable between a closed string retaining position and an open string releasing position, and a latch for selectively engaging and locking the sear in the string retaining position. The sear includes a roller mounted on one end and the latch includes a tapered pin for engaging the roller when the pin is extended to lock the sear in the closed position. The sear includes a pair of spaced string retaining notches, adapted for engaging the bow string above and below the nock of an arrow, the bow string substantially perpendicular to the axis of the arrow when the string is placed in the release mechanism.

Rotationally adjustable bow string release

A bow string release with a head carrying at least one sear movable between a closed string retaining position and an open string releasing position, and a latch pin axially movable for selectively directly engaging and locking the sear in the string retaining position.

Twin jaw bow string release

The bow string release includes a pair of sear elements which move in a substantially linear motion relative to one another between open and closed position in response to movement of a latch which pivots into and out of latching engagement with each of the sear elements.

A bow string release includes a head and body which may be rotated relative to one another, wherein the sear is contained in the head and the trigger is contained in the body. A stiff trigger element is used for translating trigger motion to the sear, the stiff trigger element having a feel similar to that of flexible trigger elements but functional in both the forward and reverse directions as with rigid trigger elements, facilitating reloading of the release.

A bow string release includes a head with a string retaining sear and a grip with a trigger, each mounted on a cylindrical shaft such that head and grip are rotatable 360.degree. relative to one another. One embodiment includes a flexible, collapsible latch release.

The bow string release includes a pair of sear elements which move in a linear motion relative to one another betweeen open and closed position in response to movement of a latch which pivots into and out of latching engagement with each of the sear elements.
