A spacer for a valvetrain in an engine system includes a spacer body defining a spacer axis extending between a first axial spacer body end and a second axial spacer body end, and including an outer peripheral surface, a circumferentially extending inner peripheral surface forming a through-bore, an oil spray port extending from the inner peripheral surface to the outer peripheral surface, and a circumferentially extending fluid groove formed in the inner peripheral surface and extending to the oil spray port. Related valvetrain and rocker arm assembly apparatus is also disclosed.

A spacer for a valvetrain in an engine system includes a spacer body defining a spacer axis and including a through-bore extending from a first axial end to a second axial end, an outer arcuate surface, and an inner arcuate surface having an oil feed inlet. The spacer further includes an orientation element extending from the spacer body and defining an orientation axis transverse to the spacer axis, and including an inner orientation surface and an outer orientation surface. The spacer further includes an oil application structure defining a structure axis oriented transverse to both the spacer axis and the orientation axis, and including a plurality of oil spray channels, each respective one of the plurality of oil spray channels including an oil outlet at a termination point and being fluidly connected to the oil feed inlet.

A piston for an internal combustion engine includes a piston crown having a crown outer surface forming piston lands alternating axially with piston ring grooves together with the piston lands defining a deposit-sensitive zone. The crown outer surface is smoothed to inhibit deposit formation and/or adhesion within at least a portion of the deposit-sensitive zone to a roughness average (Ra) of 0.0002 millimeters or less, and in a refinement to a mirror finish Ra of 0.000125 or less.

A fuel injector is provided which has a valve member, a valve member guide and a spring chamber. Discharge of fuel out of a fuel injector outlet is controlled by movement of the valve member within a bore of the valve member guide. The spring chamber contains a biasing member, which is a compression spring, and which biases the valve member into contact with a valve seat when in a closed configuration. The fuel supply passage is provided, which by-passes the spring chamber, to direct a flow of the fuel to an outlet chamber of the fuel injector, and the cleaning fluid supply passage is provided to supply a pressurized cleaning fluid to a second end of the bore to restrict leakage of the fuel from the outlet chamber towards the second end of the bore along a clearance extending between the valve member and the valve member guide.
