Disclosed is a safety system for a stairlift. The Safety system comprises a component for sending and receiving an electromagnetic signal that includes a light emitting device such as an LED and a light receiving device such as a photo resistor, an electromagnetic signal interrupter like a movable vane, a moveable activator, and a processor. The activator is configured to be moved by a user of the stairlift, which in turn causes the signal interrupter to interrupt a first electromagnetic signal.

Stairlift safety system

The present disclosure refers to a remote control unit adapted to control a stairlift, wherein the stairlift comprises, a rail, a drive unit having a platform, such as a chair or a lifting ramp for a wheelchair, for driving along the rail, a first control unit arranged at and connected to the drive unit. The remote control unit is arranged separately from the drive unit and is wirelessly connected to the drive unit. The first control unit and the remote control unit are adapted to control the drive unit independently of each other. The remote control unit is adapted to instruct the drive unit to perform multiple functions (A-J) via wireless transmission. The present disclosure also relates to a method of controlling a stairlift.

Stairlift remote control unit

A foldable stairlift includes a rail, a carrier that drives along the rail and a chair supported by the carrier. The chair and carrier define a stairlift unit. The chair includes a base body coupled to the carrier, a foldable seat body coupled to the base body, a foldable leg body coupled to the seat body, a foldable footrest body coupled to the leg body, a back rest body coupled to the base body, and a foldable armrest body coupled to the backrest body. Each of the seat body, leg body, and footrest body have their own respective folding system that controls the folding and unfolding of their respective seat body, leg body, and footrest body. And each folding system is controlled by an assigned motor that operates according to a variable speed profile. A method of controlling the folding and unfolding action of the foldable stairlift includes operating the motors according to one or more speed profiles.

A method of configuring a platform lift, having a drive unit with a communication device and a remote device in communication with the communication device so the remote device provides a user input to the control unit, is disclosed. The method includes uploading a selected country specific setting into the communication device, emitting an introductory signal from the communication device to the remote device, emitting an acknowledgement signal from the remote device back to the communication device, emitting from the communication device a first signal containing information corresponding to the uploaded country specific setting, receiving the emitted first signal at the remote device, configuring the remote device by recognizing the country specific setting in the first signal, selecting at the remote device the same country specific setting, and emitting a confirmation signal from the remote device back to the communication device which conforms to the selected country specific setting.

Method of configuring a platform lift

A method of controlling a stairlift, the stairlift including a rail, a chair, and a drive assembly having a drive engine for driving the chair along the rail. The chair is attached to the drive assembly and the chair has an armrest, wherein the armrest is pivotably supported at the chair by a hinge. The hinge allows a rotational movement of the armrest, in particular along a vertical axis. The method includes detecting an angular position of the armrest and controlling at least one functionality of the stairlift, in particular a functionality of the drive assembly, as a function of the detected angular position.
