Infant automobile seat

An infant carrier and base are provided with locking features which include a spring-mounted bolt protruding laterally from the base and a hollow or aperture in the carrier which engages the bolt when the carrier is inserted into the base. The upper surface of the bolt is sloped so that the carrier forces the bolt inward (to a retracted position) as the rim of the aperture slides over the protruding end of the bolt. A spring snaps the bolt back into place once the carrier is fully inserted and the aperture is aligned with the bolt. The carrier contains a lever arm whose fulcrum is positioned adjacent to the aperture. A spiral cam protrudes from the fulcrum to engage a knob extending upward from the side of the bolt, so that when the lever arm is rotated the cam urges the knob backward, retracting the bolt and permitting removal of the carrier from the base.

Interlocking infant carrier and base for car seat mounting

A latch mechanism is designed to secure a safety belt to the upper surface of a seat at any of a plurality of positions spaced longitudinally along the seat surface. The mechanism includes a loop extending downward from the end of the safety belt to fit into any of a series of slots arranged in a longitudinal row along the seat surface. Below the seat surface is a longitudinal channel retaining a plunger. A longitudinal row of hooks, each capable of engaging the seat belt loop, extends upward from the plunger, having the same number and spacing as the slots. The plunger is capable of sliding longitudinally inside the channel, but is biased to a position in which the hooks are aligned with the slots. Retraction of the hooks and hence release of the seat belt loop is achieved by manual manipulation of the plunger. Proper selection of a slot for insertion of the seat belt loop will comfortably yet securely retain an infant or toddler within a range of body sizes.

A battery-operated dust cup type, hand-held vacuum cleaner is provided with wall-mounted store-and-charge means that supports the cleaner in upwardly pointed position. The cleaner is also rechargeable independently of the storage bracket, using the same charging means. The flap valve associated with the vacuum nozzle of the cleaner is backwardly slanted from the intake mouth in closed position. The flap valve seals on a lip extending around the inner periphery of the nose end of the dust cup. The intake mouth is provided with a serration or comb forming a re-entrant lip at the bottom side of the mouth. The dust bag is mounted independently of the dust cup but also without use of special brackets forward of the vacuum intake. Latch means for the dust cup is mounted immediately adjacent the power switch, and is mechanically arranged to be 'forgiving' of variations in manufacturing tolerance. The latch surfaces are hidden from sight and the latch mechanism is protected from dirt and dust within the dust cup by being isolated therefrom by sealing means. A novel sealing means is provided. The thin-walled plastic body forming the housing for the power components comprises two molded halves each of which has stiffening ribs partially penetrating the other in engaging relation. Pairs of posts extend transversely from the outer side walls of the two housing halves into mating and end-abutting relation with each other, and are fastened together in such relation.

A reclining chair having a seat, and a support structure including an element which supports the bottom of the seat. The attitude of the seat is shiftable relative to the support structure between an upright and a reclining position by a pivotable interconnect between the bottom of the seat and the element which supports the bottom of the seat.

Reclining chair

There is shown an infant car seat having a seat, back and sides. Support stands are connected to a plate member within compartments on either side of said seat which are in turn, pivotally connected to the side members of the seat. These plate members have an arcuate upper face with internal teeth extending downwardly therefrom. Buttons are spring biased within each of the compartments and extend through the upper walls thereof. The button has an extending portion which includes a compartment wherein the spring is placed between the upper section of the compartment and the pivot retaining means in order to bias the button upwardly. The upper portion of the button compartment contains teeth which mate with the teeth of the plate. The seat may be adjusted to various positions by depressing the buttons on either side of the seat and rotating the seat about the pivot point. The seat also contains two recesses, one on either side of the upper face of the side of the seat, which accept the auto seat belt when the seat is facing in the rearward direction in the automobile. The pivot point and the auto seat belt slots are so selected that the resulting vector force of the dynamic force and load and the retaining force of the seat belt is in a downward direction through the pivot point.

Baby carrier and car seat

A rigid support and restraining stand for an infant car seat having opposed legs pivotally mounted to the seat. A bight member is connected to the opposed legs by associated rod members. The rod members and legs form an acute angle whereby the bight member firmly grasps the front edge of the auto seat when the infant car seat is in a rearward facing position.
