Incorporation of organic amines as neutralization agents in based phase inversion emulsification (PIE) processes to provide emulsification of high molecular amorphous and high molecular branch amorphous polyester resins, which are traditionally difficult to emulsify. The organic amines facilitate emulsification of these resins to achieve desired particle size with a narrow size distribution.

Neutralizing agents for resin emulsions

Process for passivating polymeric particles to prevent undesirable interaction with the environment. In particular, sputter coating of metal and surface treatment with aqueous solutions are shown to successfully passivate the particles, such as for example, toner particles, and prevent interaction between the particles and the epoxy embedding resin which causes artifacts, observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging.

Process for chemical passivation of polymer surfaces

The present embodiments relate to methods of making a toner composition. More specifically, the present embodiments relate to methods of including a functional material into a toner composition.

Method of making toners

Toner particles are provided which may include a core and a shell, one or both of which may include a polyester gel. The gel in the shell and/or core may prevent a crystalline resin in the core from migrating to the toner surface.

There is described a delivery member for use in an image forming apparatus. The delivery member includes a cylindrical support member and an outer layer. The outer layer comprises an outer surface. The outer surface comprises a first surface section and a second surface section. The first surface section comprises an elastomeric matrix having a functional material dispersed therein and the second surface section comprises a cleaning material.

Powder Coated Carrier

The present disclosure provides toners and processes for making said toners. In embodiments, the toners include a fluorescent additive having a fluorescent agent. Toners are colorless when viewed under natural light but when exposed to UV light of a specific wavelength the toners are rendered bright green due to the presence of the fluorescent agent.

Disclosed is a polyester resin comprising the polycondensation product of (a) at least one diacid, acid ester, or diester; and (b) at least one diol; wherein either (i) at least one diacid, acid ester, or diester comprises a rosin diacid, rosin acid ester, or rosin diester; or (ii) at least one diol comprises a rosin diol, and wherein at least one of the rosin diacid, rosin acid ester, rosin diester, or rosin diol is either (A) an ester of a functionalized rosin or an ester of a reduced functionalized rosin, or (B) a dimerized rosin. Also disclosed is a toner composition comprising particles which comprise the disclosed polyester resin and an optional colorant.

Powder coated carrier

Disclosed is a polyester resin comprising the polycondensation product of (a) at least one diacid, acid ester, or diester; and (b) at least one diol; wherein either (i) at least one diacid, acid ester, or diester comprises a rosin diacid, rosin acid ester, or rosin diester; or (ii) at least one diol comprises a rosin diol. Also disclosed is a toner composition comprising particles which comprise the disclosed polyester resin and an optional colorant.

Pyrophoric nanoparticles and methods of producing the same are provided herein. An exemplary method of producing pyrophoric nanoparticles can include providing a first aqueous solution comprising at least one metal salt and an aliphatic polyether; providing a second solution comprising a metal hydride reducing agent; continuously combining the first and second solutions to produce nanoparticles in a liquid phase; separating the nanoparticles from the liquid phase; and drying the nanoparticles to form pyrophoric nanoparticles. The pyrophoric nanoparticles can have a diameter ranging from about 1 nm to about 50 nm.
