The present disclosure relates to a mixing pump () for combining two or more substances. More specifically, the mixing pump () is adapted to combine controlled amounts of those substances so as to produce a mixture containing predetermined proportions of those substances. The mixing pump includes a chamber () lying in fluid communication with a first substance inlet (), a second substance inlet () and a mixture outlet (). The mixing pump () also includes a pumping member disposed in the chamber () and adapted to draw first and second substances from the first and second substance inlets () and to expel a mixture of those substances through the mixture outlet ().

A fuel system is disclosed. The fuel system has a first pump supplying fuel at a first pressure. The fuel system also has a fuel filter fluidly connected downstream of the first pump. The fuel system further has a second pump receiving fuel at a second pressure and fluidly connected downstream of the fuel filter. The fuel system additionally has a first passage fluidly connecting an outlet of the first pump to an inlet of the first pump. The fuel system also has a valve located within the first passage and configured to selectively allow fuel flow through the first passage. The fuel system further has a second passage fluidly connecting an inlet of the second pump to the valve, wherein the second pressure acts on the valve to affect fuel at the first pressure to flow to the inlet of the first pump via the first passage when the second pressure is greater than a predetermined pressure.

An electro-magnetically operated valve which has a pole piece, an armature member mounted for movement relative to the pole piece, and an electro-magnetic device associated with the pole piece for effecting movement of the armature member between a first position spaced from the pole piece to a second position where the armature member contacts the pole piece, where at least a portion of the armature member and/or the pole piece has in or on a coating or layer of material having a higher mechanical hardness or a higher magnetic permeability than the material of the armature and/or pole piece.

A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine. The system includes an injector assembly for injecting fuel under pressure into the combustion chamber of an engine. The system also includes an intensifier assembly for intensifying the pressure of the fuel supplied to the injector assembly. This is incorporated in the cylinder head or attached to the cylinder head or an engine valve cover of the engine remote from the injector assembly. Intensified fuel passes from the intensifier assembly to the injector assembly via a conduit. This arrangement of injector assembly, intensifier assembly and fuel conduit reduces the over cylinder space required, particularly for a cylinder head arrangement with vertically projecting injector assemblies.
