Certain embodiments disclosed herein generate an image that is devoid of a person. Such an embodiment can includes using a camera to obtain a first image of a scene while a person is at a first location within the FOV of the camera, obtaining a second image of the scene while the person is at a second location within the FOV of the camera, and generating, based on the first and second images, a third image of the scene, such that the third image of the scene is devoid of the person and includes portions of the scene that were blocked by the person in the first and second images. Other embodiments disclosed herein determine spatial information for one or more items of interest within a graphical representation of a region generated based on one or more images of the region captured using a camera of a mobile device.

Imaging using mobile computing device in communication with wide field of view (FOV) camera

Stereoscopic imaging is performed using a mobile computing device having front- and rear-facing cameras and mounted on a rotational mechanism. The cameras and rotational mechanism are controlled, e.g., by a downloaded application, to capture images of a room or other environment using both the front- and rear-facing cameras at different pan angle and tilt angle combinations. First and second images of a portion of the room or other environment, captured using the front- and rear-facing cameras, are selected for inclusion in a stereo image pair. Obtained images and corresponding metadata are transferred to a remote system. A structure from motion pipeline is used to generate a three-dimensional model of the room or other environment. Data that enables the mobile computing device to display a three-dimensional model of the room or other environment is received from the remote system and used to display the three-dimensional model.

Stereoscopic imaging using mobile computing devices having front-facing and rear-facing cameras

Methods and apparatuses for capturing images used for generating three-dimensional (3D) models of rooms are described herein. User location indicators and image location indicators are displayed on a display of a mobile computing device, such as, but not limited to, a smartphone, a tablet computing device, or a laptop computer. Images and corresponding orientation information are obtained for each of a plurality of walls of each of a plurality of rooms using a camera and at least one sensor of the mobile computing device. The obtained images and corresponding orientation information are transferred from the mobile computing device to a remote system that is configured to generate 3D models of rooms based on images. The mobile computing device receives data that enables the mobile computing device to display a 3D model of the room(s) that was/were imaged.

Methods and apparatuses for capturing images used for generating 3D models of rooms

A server in a communications network establishes a communication channel between a user's device and another device having a display. Particularly, the server generates a Quick Response (QR) code utilizing one or more parameters, and sends it to a device for display to a user. Using his or her device, the user captures an image of the displayed QR code and extracts the parameters using an image analysis technique. The device then sends the extracted parameters back to the server, which then utilizes them to authenticate the user and establish the communications session.

System and method for establishing a communication session

An electronic device includes a touch-sensitive display screen including an array of electromagnetic radiation detectors. The array of electromagnetic radiation detectors is configured to generate an image signal that represents an image of a user input object that is closely spaced to the display, and to generate a touch signal in response to the display screen being touched by the user input object. The electronic device further includes a controller circuit that is configured to display a plurality of keys forming a keyboard and to display characters on the keys. The controller identifies from the image signal a size and/or an angular orientation of the user input object relative to the display screen. The controller identifies a user's selection among characters indicated on the keyboard keys in response to the identified size and/or the angular orientation of the user input object and in response to the touch signal, and outputs character data corresponding to the identified user selected character.
