Solid polymorphic forms of sulfentrazone are described. Particularly, a new polymorphic form of sulfentrazone is described herein as sulfentrazone-1, having surprising property advantages over technical sulfentrazone. Processes for the preparation of sulfentrazone-1, herbicidal compositions comprising sulfentrazone-1, and methods of its use are described.

The present invention is directed to the use of at least one 3-isoxazolidone herbicide selected from the group consisting of 2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)methyl-4,4-dimethyl-3-isoxazolidone and 2-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)methyl-4,4-dimethyl-3-isoxazolidone as a selective herbicide in a grass orcrop selected from the group consisting of corn, rice,, barley, rye, and canola.

New formulations of clomazone are provided, as well as new methods for making formulations of clomazone. The new formulations provide improved efficacy, decreased volatility, and/or increased loading of clomazone over the clomazone formulations in the prior art.

Formulations of clomazone

An herbicidal composition containing from 1 to 4 pounds of clomazone per gallon of formulation and having a clomazone volatility less than fifty percent of that of an emulsifiable concentrate containing four pounds of clomazone per gallon of formulation is prepared by the interfacial reaction of polymethylene polyphenyl isocyanate with a polyfunctional amine selected from ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, 1,6-hexanediamine, and their mixtures in an aqueous phase optionally containing from 0.05 to 0.25 weight percent of a xanthan gum viscosity modified/stabilizer. Several such formulations and the method of their preparation are described.

Low volatility formulations of microencapsulated clomazone
