The invention provides an apparatus for engaging and disengaging a track lighting assembly with respect to a track in a track lighting system. The apparatus includes a track engaging apparatus that includes a housing. The housing includes a rotation inhibitor that has a protruding end that protrudes from the housing for engaging with the track and preventing the track engaging apparatus from rotating with respect to the track. The rotation inhibitor further includes a receiving member for translating a force in a first direction into motion of the rotation inhibitor in a second direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction. The apparatus further includes an actuator for applying the force in the first direction to the receiving member.

Push button release for luminaires in a track lighting system

A lamp adjustment assembly for a light fixture includes a socket platform having a base and hollow neck. A socket mounts to the base. The interior of the hollow neck includes at least three spaced-apart cam followers. A cam having spiral grooves includes a first portion that fits at least partially within the interior of the hollow neck. The cam followers mate with the grooves. An adjustment knob is coupled to a second portion of the cam and rotatably coupled to a socket housing that at least partially encloses the lamp adjustment assembly. Alignment wings extend from the base of the socket platform and are sized to fit within slots in the interior of the socket housing. The slots prevent the socket platform from rotating and limit the linear range of motion of the socket platform. A spring applies force to the base and the adjustment knob.

A focus assembly for a luminaire includes a socket, having wires extending therefrom, for receiving a lamp; a mounting cup for securing the socket to the luminaire; a socket focusing mechanism for axially translating the mounting cup relative to a stationary reflector; and a wire guide tab, extending from the mounting cup, for shielding the wires from the socket focus mechanism during translation of the mounting cup.

Focus assembly for a track light

The remote, self adjusting operator for a circuit breaker according to the present invention allows a circuit breaker toggle to be operated from the exterior of the an explosion-proof enclosure over the circuit breaker panel. The operator includes a shaft having one end extending outside of an enclosure door and another end extending inside the enclosure door. A handle is attached to the shaft at the exterior of the door and an operating fork is attached to the shaft at the inside of the door. The operating fork having a slot for receiving the toggle is designed to prevent damage to the circuit breaker toggle or the operating fork if the door is close when the fork is not properly aligned with the toggle. A spring is provided on the shaft between the fork and the inside surface of the door which allows the fork to move axially on the shaft when it engages the toggle. A sloped surface on the bottom of the fork will cause the fork to move across the toggle until the slot is aligned over the toggle. In this way the circuit breaker toggle may be operated from the exterior of the enclosure door and careful alignment of the operator with the toggle while closing the door is unnecessary.

Remote, self-adjusting operator for an electrical enclosure

An electrical switch and switch contact are disclosed, both of which are advantageous for use in an environment containing explosive gases or vapors. The switch housing is designed so that the two joints where explosive gases or vapors can enter or exit into the switch interior can cool any hot gases escaping from the switch interior. Therefore, if any explosive gases or vapors are ignited by an arc in the switch interior, they are cooled during their exit from the switch, so that they cannot ignite the explosive environment outside the switch. This is done using a labyrinthine path between the two switch housing members, and a lengthy metal-to-metal, metal-to-ceramic, or ceramic-to-ceramic path between the switch actuator and the switch housing. The contact is designed such that it has a greater flexural length, without requiring a substantial increase in the housing body volume. This allows a smaller amount of hazardous gas or vapor to come into contact with a potential arc. The contact design allows a good degree of overtravel and a contact cleaning action, both of which contribute to the reliability of the electrical connection made by the switch.
