The subject of the invention is a novel plasterboard and its manufacturing processes. The novel board comprises, on one side, two first parallel feathered edges and, on the other side, two other, second, parallel feathered edges that are perpendicular to the first ones; or, on one side, two first parallel feathered edges and, either on the same side or on the other side, two second parallel feathered edges that are perpendicular to the first ones, the said other parallel feathered edges having a width of between 100 and 200 mm; or, on one side, two first parallel feathered edges and, either on the same side or on the other side, two second parallel feathered edges that are perpendicular to the first ones, the said second parallel feathered edges having a width such that the ratio of the width of the said second parallel feathered edges to the width of the said first parallel feathered edges is between 1.5 and 5.

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing sheets based on hydraulic binder, particularly sheets of plasterboard with feathered edges. The method comprises the steps of (I) making a mark () on a facing (or) of the preform (), (II) detecting the mark (), and (III) sending an actuating signal to a device () for cutting the preform (). The invention also relates to a production line for producing such sheets, and to an apparatus, particularly for making an impression () in a preform (). A process for manufacturing plasterboard and a plasterboard manufacturing unit are provided, the process including feeding hydratable calcium sulphate and water into a first mixer () and into a second mixer (); feeding in a facing (); preparing a first gypsum slurry in the first mixer (); preparing a second gypsum slurry in the second mixer (); applying the first slurry onto the facing and forming a crude surface layer; applying the second slurry onto the crude surface layer and forming a crude core layer with a density lower than that of the crude surface layer; forming a plasterboard; hydrating and drying the board. This process allows the formation of the different layers of gypsum to be controlled independently.
