The AAS may include a feed waveguide having a feed waveguide length, at least two directional couplers in signal communication with the feed waveguide, at least two pairs of planar coupling slots along the feed waveguide length, and at least two horn antennas.

Antenna array system for producing dual polarization signals

In examples, systems and methods for waveguide antenna arrays with integrated filters are described. An example waveguide antenna array element a waveguide section has a first end and second end. The waveguide section is configured to propagate electromagnetic energy. The waveguide antenna array element also includes a feed configured to launch an electromagnetic wave into the first end of the waveguide section. The waveguide antenna array element also includes a waveguide filter having at least one waveguide cavity coupled to the second end of the waveguide section. The waveguide filter is configured to pass a first set of electromagnetic frequencies and reject a second set of electromagnetic frequencies. Yet further, the waveguide antenna array element includes an antenna coupled to the waveguide filter configured to radiate a portion of the electromagnetic energy passed by the waveguide filter.

Electronics and filter-integrated, dual-polarized transition and radiator for phased array sensors

Coaxial radio frequency ('RF') connectors for high-power handling are disclosed. Specifically, a high-power male coaxial connector ('HPMC') is disclosed. The HPMC includes a center conductor, an outer conductor disposed around the center conductor, an insulating layer positioned between the center conductor and the outer conductor, and a first elastomer. The outer conductor has an outer conductor front-end (&#x201c;OCFE&#x201d;) and the insulating layer has an insulating layer front-end (&#x201c;ILFE&#x201d;). The first elastomer is positioned between the center conductor and the insulating layer. The insulating layer may include an insulating layer cavity (&#x201c;ILC&#x201d;) extending inward into the insulating layer from the ILFE and the first elastomer may be within the ILC.

Coaxial radio frequency connectors for high-power handling

Disclosed is a dual-mode antenna array system ('DAAS') for directing and steering an antenna beam that includes an approximately square feed ('ASF') waveguide, a plurality of first-mode directional couplers ('FMDCs'), a plurality of second-mode directional couplers (&#x201c;SMDCs&#x201d;), a plurality of first-mode radiating elements (&#x201c;FMREs&#x201d;), and a plurality of second-mode radiating elements (&#x201c;SMREs&#x201d;). The ASF waveguide includes a first ASF waveguide wall, a second ASF waveguide wall, an ASF waveguide length, a first-feed waveguide input at a first-end of the ASF feed waveguide, and a second-feed waveguide input at a second-end of the ASF feed waveguide. The plurality of FMDCs are on the first ASF waveguide wall and the plurality of SMDCs are on the second ASF waveguide wall. The plurality of FMREs are in signal communication with the plurality of FMDCs and the plurality of SMREs are in signal communication with the plurality of SMDCs.

Dual-mode antenna array system

An enhanced hybrid-tee coupler ('EHT-coupler'), the EHT-coupler is described. The EHT-coupler includes a first waveguide, second waveguide, third waveguide, and fourth waveguide. The first waveguide defines a first port and the second waveguide defines a second port. Similarly, the third waveguide defines a fourth port and the fourth waveguide defines a fourth port. The first, second, third, and fourth waveguides meet in a single common junction and the first waveguide and second waveguide are collinear. The third waveguide forms an E-plane junction with both the first waveguide and the second waveguide and the fourth waveguide forms an H-plane junction with both the first waveguide and the second waveguide. The EHT-coupler also includes a first impedance matching element positioned in the common junction where the first impedance matching element includes a base and a tip.

The antenna array system may include a feed waveguide having a feed waveguide length, at least two directional couplers in signal communication with the feed waveguide, at least two pairs of planar coupling slots along the feed waveguide length, and at least two horn antennas.

Antenna array system for producing dual circular polarization signals utilizing a meandering waveguide

A power division and recombination network with internal signal adjustment ('PDRN') is described. The PDRN may include a means for dividing an input power signal having a first amplitude value into eight intermediate power signals, where each intermediate power signal has an intermediate amplitude value equal to approximately one-eighth the first amplitude value. The PDRN may also include a means for processing the intermediate power signals and a means for combining the intermediate power signal into a single output power signal.

Power division and recombination network with internal signal adjustment

A wide band antenna tracking modulator and method is disclosed. The system includes a common port for receiving an electromagnetic signal, a waveguide connected to the common port, at least a pair of side arms and a pair of coupling slots separated along an axis of the waveguide coupling the electromagnetic signals between the waveguide and the pair of side arms. The pair of coupling slots substantially coupled a higher order TE mode signal while substantially not coupling a primary TE mode signal. The method includes substantially coupling a higher order Transverse Electric (TE) mode signal of the electromagnetic signal while substantially not coupling a primary TE mode signal of the electromagnetic signal to at least a pair of side arms coupled to the wave guide though a pair of coupling slots separated along the axis of the waveguide.

Wide band tracking modulator

A quasi-lumped resonator apparatus that makes use of an inductive portion having a plurality of spines extending therefrom along at least a portion of a length thereof, and a capacitive portion electrically and physically coupled to an end of the inductive portion. The capacitive portion has a plurality of spaced apart capacitive fringe plates extending therefrom. A housing is included for enclosing the inductive and capacitive portions. In another aspect a method is disclosed for forming a quasi-lumped resonator.

Quasi-lumped resonator apparatus and method

Systems and methods are disclosed herein to provide improved phased array antenna system. For example, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a phased array antenna system includes a plurality of horn/filter assemblies. A plurality of modules are adapted to provide RF signals to the horn/filter assemblies. Each of the horn/filter assemblies is mounted on a top surface of a corresponding one of the modules. A thermal system is adapted to cool the modules. The modules are mounted on a first surface of the thermal system. A plurality of distribution boards associated with the modules are mounted on a second surface of the thermal system. A plurality of interconnects associated with the modules are adapted to connect the modules with the distribution boards through the thermal system.

Multi-beam phased array antenna for limited scan applications

A microwave waveguide filter includes a main-line cavity structure with a group of at least two rectangular main-line cavities arrayed along a main propagation path and including a first main-line cavity and a second main-line cavity. Each main-line cavity includes a sidewall, and each pair of adjacent main-line cavities has a common transverse wall transverse to the main propagation path and a main-line aperture in the common transverse wall. A rectangular first feedback cavity is in microwave communication with each of the first main-line cavity and the second main-line cavity through the respective sidewall of the first main-line cavity and the second main-line cavity. There is a first-cavity feedback aperture between the first feedback cavity and the first main-line cavity, and a second-cavity feedback aperture between the first feedback cavity and the second main-line cavity. There may be additional feedback cavities as well.

Microwave waveguide filter having rectangular cavities, and method for its fabrication

A resonant waveguide load structure is provided for use in waveguide systems. The load structure includes a length of waveguide which is open at one end and closed at the other end. The load structure also includes a support pin mounted inside the waveguide near the closed end thereof. The load structure further includes a resonant body mounted on the support pin. The load structure also includes at least one spacer member mounted on the support pin for maintaining the position of the resonant body. This load structure may be combined with a waveguide circulator to provide a novel waveguide equalizer apparatus.

Frequency adjustable multipole resonant waveguide load structure

A cavity-coupled microwave filter that uses TE,and TE,mode resonators. The cavity-coupled microwave filter includes an input port, a first resonator having a first opening, wherein the first opening receives electromagnetic energy from the input port, a second resonator having a second opening, wherein the second opening receives electromagnetic energy from the input port and wherein the first resonator and the second resonator are electromagnetically coupled. The cavity-coupled microwave filter further includes an output port, a third resonator having a third opening, wherein the third opening transfers electromagnetic energy to the output port and wherein the second resonator and the third resonator are electromagnetically coupled and a fourth resonator having a fourth opening, wherein the fourth opening transfers electromagnetic energy to the output port and wherein the third resonator and the fourth resonator are electromagnetically coupled. By using both positive and negative coupling between resonators and filter ports, both high side and low side transmission poles are created, thereby yielding a bandpass filter.

Coupling mechanism for and filter using TE011 and TE01&dgr; mode resonators

The present invention is directed to improved coupling mechanisms for TE.sub.011 and TE.sub.01.delta. mode resonators. In one embodiment, the coupling mechanism provides an adjustable connection for transferring electromagnetic energy from a first resonator to a second resonator. Once the resonators are coupled, the coupling mechanism is adapted to allow adjustment of the magnitude and/or the phase of the electromagnetic energy while preserving the electromagnetic connection between the resonators. In another embodiment, the coupling mechanism provides a connection of the resonators using a waveguide. By varying the connection of the resonators with respect to the waveguide, positive relative coupling and/or negative relative coupling of the electromagnetic energy transferred between the waveguide and the resonators is provided.
