Methods of using pressure-sensitive adhesives

A low viscosity, fast-curing binder for textile substrates is produced by admixing an aqueous emulsion copolymer latex with an aqueous solution copolymer formed by the copolymerization of an olefinically unsaturated polycarboxylic acid and an olefinically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid. Viscosities in the range of about 2 cps at 25% total solids to about 1000 cps at 35% total solids are realized by using solution copolymers containing about 40%-75% by weight of polycarboxylic acid.

Low viscosity high strength acid binder

Non-formaldehyde emitting binders for nonwoven cellulosic materials comprise a solution copolymer of an olefinically unsaturated organic compound having at least one carboxylate group, which is reacted with a primary or secondary amide of an olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid. The product of said reaction is admixed with a non-formaldehyde containing latex carrier which has been formulated with a non-formaldehyde forming reactive monomer to produce binder compositions which reach substantially fully cured wet strength in 8 seconds or less.
