In a process for producing tertiary alkyd ethers from an olefinic hydrocarbon feedstock, undesirable normal alkanes are removed from the process by passing at least a portion of a hydrocarbon process stream to an alkane isomerization zone to convert normal alkane to isoalkane and passing the alkane isomerization zone effluent to a separation zone to remove the isoalkane. Since no normal alkane is discharged from the process, the loss of valuable olefins, which have boiling points close to normal alkane, is prevented and olefins are retained in the process and converted to the appropriate tertiary alkyl ether. The result is an increase in the ether yield.

Olefin isomerization process using etherification feed isomerization

This invention relates to a process for convening C.sub.5 /C.sub.6 hydrocarbons to aromatic products, e.g., benzene, toluene, etc. The process involves first flowing the C.sub.5 /C.sub.6 feedstream to a first reaction zone where the C.sub.5 /C.sub.6 feed is convened to aromatics and C.sub.3 /C.sub.4 products which are then flowed to a second reaction zone where the C.sub.3 --C.sub.4 compounds are convened to aromatic compound along with formation of hydrogen and fuel gas products. The product stream from the second reaction zone is combined with the products from the first conversion zone and the entire stream separated into the desired components.

Process for producing aromatics from a C.sub.5 /C.sub.6 feedstream

A pretreatment method for a C.sub.8 aromatic isomerization process wherein the isomerization catalyst is initially contacted with a C.sub.8 aromatic feedstock under high severity isomerization conditions for a period of time sufficient to deposit a substantial amount to carbonaceous material on the catalyst. After pretreatment, the carbon-laden catalyst continues to be contacted by the C.sub.8 aromatic feedstock under less severe conditions than that of the pretreatment mode of operation.

Pretreatment method for C.sub.8 aromatic isomerization process

A process for converting C.sub.2 to C.sub.6 aliphatic hydrocarbons to aromatics is described. The process uses a catalyst which contains a zeolite, an aluminum phosphate binder and a gallium component. Examples of zeolites which can be used are the ZSM family of zeolites, with ZSM-5 being a specific example. The catalyst is characterized in that it is tolerant to exposure to hydrogen at temperatures of about 500.degree. to about 700.degree. C. The catalyst's tolerance to hydrogen exposure is the result of treating the catalyst with an aqueous solution of a weakly acidic ammonium salt or a dilute acid solution at a temperature of about 50.degree. to about 100.degree. C. for a time of about 1 to about 48 hours, followed by calcination.

Process for producing aromatic compounds from C2-C6 aliphatic

This invention relates to a process for reactivating a dehydrocyclodimerization catalyst. Dehydrocyclodimerization catalysts which contain an aluminum phosphate binder can be deactivated when they are exposed to hydrogen at temperatures above 500.degree. C. The instant process restores substantially all of the catalyst's lost activity. The process involves treating the catalyst with an aqueous solution of a weakly acidic ammonium salt or a dilute acid solution at a temperature of about 50.degree. to about 100.degree. C. for a time of about 1 to about 48 hours. An ammonium nitrate solution is preferred. Next the catalyst is calcined at a temperature of about 500.degree. to about 700.degree. C. for a time of about 1 to about 15 hours to provide a reactivated catalyst. The catalyst can be reactivated several times using this process.

A catalyst for converting C.sub.2 to C.sub.6 aliphatic hydrocarbons to aromatics is described. The catalyst contains a zeolite, an aluminum phosphate binder and a gallium component. A hydrocarbon conversion process is disclosed which extends the useful life of a regenerable zeolite-containing hydrocarbon conversion catalyst. In one aspect of this process, a hydrocarbon feed containing fluorides is passed through a fluoride removal system which reduces the fluoride concentration of the feed to below 100 ppb. The hydrocarbon feed containing less than 100 ppb fluorine is then converted over a regenerable zeolite-containing hydrocarbon conversion catalyst. The zeolite-containing hydrocarbon conversion catalyst is regenerated with an oxygen-containing gas stream as necessary to burn off carbonaceous deposits on the catalyst so as to return the zeolite catalyst to a high level of activity.
