Compound are described comprising a perfluorinated group bonded to at least one terminal photoinitiator group with an organic linking group comprising at least one amide moiety. The compound typically comprises the (e.g. Michael addition) reaction product of i) a compound comprising an acryl group and a photoinitiator group; and ii) an amino functional perfluorinated compound. Also described is a composition comprising at least one free-radically polymerizable (e.g. fluorinated) monomer, oligomer, or combination thereof; and the described fluorinated photoinitiator compound and methods.

A hardenable (e.g. dental) compositions is described comprising an encapsulated material. The encapsulated material comprises a basic core material and an inorganic shell material having certain viscosity criteria. Also described are dispensing devices and kits are described comprising a hardenable (e.g. dental) composition comprising a liquid material and an encapsulated material wherein the encapsulated material comprises a basic core material and an inorganic shell material comprising a metal oxide surrounding the core. The dispensing devices and kits can facilitate the methods of applying the hardenable composition. The hardenable or hardened (e.g. cured) composition can provide various technical effects such as a delayed release of a basic core material, a delayed increase in basicity, promoting remineralization of a tooth or bone structure, and increasing the average alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity of pulp cells. In some embodiments, the composition is a dental (e.g. sealant) composition for application to a tooth structure.

Hardenable dental compositions comprising basic core material encapsulated in an inorganic shell and dispensing devices therewith

A method of applying a two-part dental sealant is described comprising providing a syringe device () comprising a cartridge () including first and second chamber. The first chamber contains a first part of a dental sealant comprising a (meth)acrylate resin and an oxidizing curing agent. The second chamber contains a second part of a dental sealant comprising a (meth)acrylate resin and a reducing curing agent that reacts with the oxidizing curing agent of the first chamber. The first and/or second part of the dental sealant further comprise a single component or multiple components that neutralize acid and promote remineralization. The syringe device comprises a dispensing nozzle () comprising a static mixer and an outlet at one end of the cartridge and a plunger () at the opposing end of the cartridge. Also described is a kit for storing and applying the dental sealant is described.

A syringe assembly being assembled from a syringe for dispensing a dental or medical substance, and a protective cover. The protective cover has a geometrically determined, non-foldable tubular protective shaft. The syringe has a cartridge having an outlet for the substance. Further, the cartridge and the protective cover are assembled with the cartridge being received within the protective shaft. The syringe further comprises a dispensing tip that is connected to the outlet for dispensing the substance from the dispensing tip. A first seal is provided between the dispensing tip and the outlet, and a second seal is provided between the dispensing tip and the protective shaft.

A curable dental composition includes a compound having structural formula (A) where X is an amine-, oxygen-, or sulfur-containing linkage; Y is an amine-, oxygen-, or sulfur-containing linkage; n is 1-15; m is 1-5; p is 1-5, with the proviso that when p is greater than 1, m is 1; each Ris, independently, an alkyl or aryl group having 2 to 20 carbon atoms that is linear, branched, cyclic, or some combination thereof, and optionally includes one or more heteroatoms or unsaturated bonds; and each Ris, independently, a hydrogen atom or CHThe composition also includes filler. The filler is present in an amount of at least 25 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the curable dental composition.

Curable dental compositions and uses thereof

Dental compositions and methods of formulating a dental composition are described. In one embodiment, the dental composition comprises a polymerizable resin comprising one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers or oligomers and nanoparticles. The nanoparticles have a refractive index of at least 1.600 and an average discrete or aggregate particle size of no greater than 100 nm. The dental composition further comprises inorganic metal oxide filler having a discrete or aggregate average particle size of at least 200 nm. The nanoparticles are present at a concentration to provide a refractive index differential between the cured polymerizable resin and inorganic metal oxide filler such that the contrast ratio of the dental composition is at least 40.

Disclosed herein are non-aqueous compositions including: a flowable Part A including at least one resin and Reactant A; and a flowable Part B including at least one resin and Reactant B; wherein at least one of flowable Part A and flowable Part B further includes a free radically polymerizable resin; wherein at least one of flowable Part A and flowable Part B further includes a free radical initiator system; wherein flowable Part A and flowable Part B are capable of being mixed to provide a flowable mixed composition; wherein when flowable Part A and flowable Part B are mixed, Reactant A and Reactant B are capable of interacting to cause a non-free radical reaction within a first staging time to provide a first staged stable consistency for the mixed composition; wherein Reactant A comprises an acid and Reactant B comprises a base, and upon mixing flowable Part A and flowable Part B, the Reactant A acid is capable of reacting with the Reactant B base in an ionic acid-base reaction; and wherein the mixed composition having the first staged stable consistency is capable of forming a hardened dental composition upon initiation of free radical polymerization.

Dental compositions and methods of formulating a dental composition are described. In one embodiment, the dental composition comprises a polymerizable resin comprising one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers or oligomers and nano-particles. The nanoparticles have a refractive index of at least 1.600 and an average discrete or aggregate particle size of no greater than 100 nm. The present disclosure provides an inorganic dental filler including a surface treated with at least one silane.
