Systems can include a test and measurement tool configured to generate measurement data, and imaging tool configured to generate image data, and a processor in communication with the imaging tool and the test and measurement tool. The processor can be configured to receive image data from the imaging tool and, if the image data satisfies one or more predetermined conditions, trigger the test and measurement tool to perform one or more corresponding operations. Similarly, the processor can receive measurement data from the test and measurement tool and, if the measurement data satisfies one or more predetermined conditions trigger the imaging tool to perform one or more corresponding operations.

Triggered operation and/or recording of test and measurement or imaging tools

A radio frequency (RF) imaging device comprises a position sensor, an optical sensor, a processor, and an output. The position sensor determines a position of the RF imaging device relative to a surface. The optical sensor captures optical image data representing an optical image of an area of the surface. The optical image data is associated with position data representing a position relative to the surface derived from the determined position of the RF imaging device. The derived position data corresponds to the area of the surface imaged by the optical sensor. The processor produces a composite image in which one or more portions of the optical image data are simultaneously viewable with RF image data representing an RF image of a space behind the surface at the same position as the optical image data. The output displays the composite image. The output may be a projector.

RF in-wall image visualization

A radio frequency (RF) imaging device comprises an optical position sensor, an RF sensor assembly, a processor, and a memory. The optical position sensor captures an optical image of a field of view and outputs data representing the optical image. The RF sensor assembly is disposed at a first position and receives an RF signal for capturing an RF image of a portion of a space disposed behind a surface at the first position and outputs data representing the RF signal. The processor receives the data representing the optical image and the RF signal, and determines that an optical signature of a reference marker is present in the optical image. If the optical signature is present in the optical image, the processor defines the first position of the RF assembly as a reference position. The memory stores the data representing the RF signal in association with the reference position.

A radio frequency (RF) imaging device comprises a position sensor, an RF sensor assembly, an optical sensor, a processor, and a memory. The position sensor determines a position of the RF imaging device relative to a surface. The RF sensor assembly captures RF image data representing an RF image of a portion of a space behind the surface at the determined position. The optical sensor captures optical image data representing an optical image of the surface at the determined position. The processor produces a composite image in which at least one or more portions of the RF image and one or more portions of the optical image that correspond to the same position relative to the surface are simultaneously viewable. The RF image data and the optical image data are stored in the memory in association with position data derived from the determined position of the RF imaging device.

A radio frequency (RF) imaging device comprises an RF sensor assembly, a position sensor, a processor, and a memory. The RF sensor assembly receives an RF signal for capturing an RF image of a portion of a space behind a surface. The position sensor receives a plurality of signals respectively emitted by a plurality of position markers at known positions relative to the surface. The processor determines a plurality of angles at which the plurality of signals respectively arrive at the position sensor and determines, based on the plurality of angles and the known positions of the plurality of position markers, a position of the RF imaging device relative to the surface. The memory stores the RF image in association with the determined position of the RF imaging device. A time-of-flight or triangulation of signal data may be used for position determination.

In one embodiment of the present disclosure, a gateway device for a measurement system generally includes a first communication system for receiving at least one signal containing data according to a first protocol, wherein the at least one signal includes at least one measurement value from at least one handheld measurement device, a signal translator for translating the signal containing the data to another signal containing the data according to a second protocol different from the first protocol, and a data memory system for storing data on the gateway device.

Handheld devices, systems, and methods for measuring parameters

An installation test system has a control device and one or more hand-held test devices. The control device and the one or more hand-held devices are in wireless communication via respective communication systems. The control device performs typical pre-power tests including insulation testing and ground testing. There is at least one hand-held device dedicated to testing for residual current in circuit breakers and another hand-held device dedicated to testing for loop impedance. The control device records all test data and stores data in storage.

A system and method of coordinating power states between two detachable units is disclosed. Only the primary unit has a user-controllable power control. The secondary unit is not directly user controllable. The power states of the two units are coordinated using an actuator mechanism when the units are attached. When the two units are detached, the state of the secondary unit is dependent upon the state of the primary unit and any subsequent commands transmitted by the primary unit to the secondary unit.

Power state coordination for portable test tools

A user provides relevant information about the operating parameters of a machine to be monitored to a diagnostic instrument. The user also specifies a location of the machine to be monitored, an alarm level to be set, and the type of alert to be sent. The instrument then automatically generates appropriate an alarm threshold using a set of rules applied to the inputs. The instrument then transmits the alarm threshold to a removable stand-alone monitor. The stand-alone monitor acquires data about the machine, compares the date to the alarm threshold, and sends a user-specified alert when the alarm threshold has been reached. Using the diagnostic instrument and monitor, machines can be monitored for vibration, temperature, or a power parameter.

A system and method for analyzing a device that includes a mass configured for motion. The system includes a tri-axial accelerometer disposed to detect acceleration vectors of the device and to output three channels of acceleration data, and a user interface receiving the three channels of acceleration data. The user interface is configured to correlate the three channels of acceleration data with a reference frame defined by three orthogonal axes intersecting at a vertex, and includes a display and a selector. The display shows sets of options that represent dispositions of the device with respect to gravity, placements of the tri-axial accelerometer with respect to the device, and orientations of the tri-axial accelerometer with respect to the device. The selector selects one device disposition option, one tri-axial accelerometer placement option, and one tri-axial accelerometer orientation option.

System and method of correlating the orientation of a tri-axial accelerometer

A user provides relevant information about the parameters of a machine to be monitored to a vibration diagnostic instrument. The user also specifies a location of the machine to be monitored, an alarm level to be set, and the type of alarm to be sent. The instrument then automatically generates appropriate alarm thresholds and transmits the information to a removable stand-alone monitor. The stand-alone monitor acquires vibration data about the machine and sends the appropriate alerts when an alarm threshold has been reached.

A method and apparatus for automating a quality assurance test conducted on display devices used for diagnostic imaging. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes an automated mechanical system for scanning a light meter over a test pattern displayed on a display device. In another embodiment, the method comprises an automated method of comparing the measured data from the light meter with an ideal image. In another embodiment, the method comprises obtaining a digital image of the test pattern displayed on the display device, and the digital image is compared with an ideal image.

Automated display quality measurement device

An electronic test instrument adapted for displaying only meaningful information notwithstanding the intermittent arrival of valid input signals due to probing operations is provided. Two independent measurement processes measure the input signal simultaneously. The first measurement process operates in a similar fashion to a digital storage oscilloscope (DSO) by successively sampling the input signal to produce waveform information which are selectively sent to an LCD display device which graphically displays the waveform. The second measurement process continually performs a stability assessment of the input signal by collecting a series of stability measurements of a selected input signal parameter, creating a moving average of the series, and comparing each new stability measurement to the moving average relative to stability criteria. The stability decision controls the flow of waveform information to the display, thereby ensuring that only meaningful information is displayed based on waveform scans conducted when the input signal is stable.
