A method for identifying at least one nuclear threat to homeland security, wherein such each nuclear threat is either hidden inside at least one cargo container before transit, or is placed inside at least one cargo container while in transit. Each such nuclear threat while interacting with its surroundings generates a unique nuclear threat signature. The method comprises: (A) detecting at least one nuclear threat signature; (B) measuring a background nuclear threat signature distribution in a nuclear threat-free environment; (C) comparing each detected nuclear threat signature with the background nuclear threat signature distribution; (D) if deviation of the detected nuclear threat signature from the background nuclear threat signature distribution is statistically significant, selecting the detected nuclear threat signature to be a part of an array of statistically significant detected nuclear threat signatures; and (E) substantially continuously processing the array of selected statistically significant detected nuclear threat signatures in order to determine a likelihood of each such nuclear threat.

Detection of nuclear materials hidden inside cargo shipments by using sensor fusion technique

A method for reporting at least one detected active threat to the homeland security (HS). Each threat is either hidden inside at least one cargo container before transit, or is placed inside at least one cargo container while in transit. Each threat while interacting with its surrounding generates a unique threat signature. The method comprises; (A) substantially continuously probing each cargo container; (B) detecting at least one threat signature;&#x2014;(C) processing each detected threat signature to determine a likelihood of at least one threat to become a threat to HS;&#x2014;(D) identifying at least one said container that includes such threat to HS;&#x2014;(E) reporting to at least one Homeland Security Monitoring Center (HSMC) that at least one container includes at least one such threat to HS; and receiving instructions from at least one Homeland Security Monitoring Center (HSMC) how to eliminate at least one such reported threat to HS while in transit; and&#x2014;(F) using robotic means to eliminate at least one such detected threat to HS.

Reporting and eliminating detected active threats while in transit

A method of tracking and processing at least one cargo container having an indefinite security status (ISS). In one embodiment, the method of the present invention comprises: (A) detecting at least one statistically significant threat (SST) signal associated with at least one cargo container while in transit; (B) if at least one such SST signal was detected, identifying each cargo container that generated at least one such SST signal and classifying the security status of each such cargo container as a Potential Threat (PT) cargo container; (C) substantially continuously checking at least one generated SST signal to verify the security status of at least one PT container while in transit; (D) if at least one SST signal is confirmed to be a false positive SST signal, changing the security status of at least one PT container associated with the false positive SST signal to an indefinite security status (ISS) cargo container; and (E) tracking and reporting position coordinates and security status of each ISS PT cargo container to an appropriate party.

Tracking and processing cargo containers having indefinite security status

A method of expediting a release procedure of at least one cargo container at least one border crossing or at least one customs entry point by detecting each statistically significant threat (SST) signal associated with at least one said cargo container while in transit, and by tracking and reporting to an appropriate party the position coordinates and a security status of each cargo container that generated at least one said SST signal. The appropriate party is selected from the group consisting of: {Homeland Security agency; and a cargo security agency}. The cargo security agency is further selected from the group consisting of: {a consignee; a steamship line; a customs broker; a freight forwarder; and a terminal operator}.

Expediting release procedure of cargo container at border crossing or at customs entry point by tracking and reporting threats while cargo container is in transit

A method of active detection of at least one threat to the homeland security. Each such threat is either hidden inside at least one cargo container before transit, or is placed inside at least one cargo container while in transit; each such threat while interacting with its surrounding generates a unique threat signature. The method comprises the following steps: (A) substantially continuously probing each cargo container; (B) detecting at least one threat signature; (C) processing each detected threat signature to determine a likelihood of at least one threat to become a threat to the homeland security; (D) identifying at least one container that includes such threat to the homeland security; and (E) eliminating such threat to the homeland security.
