A biopsy needle for collecting a tissue specimen includes an outer cannula and an inner tube received within the outer cannula. A snare coil is attached between the inner tube and the outer cannula and is configured to wind down when the inner tube rotates in a first direction relative to the outer cannula. The outer cannula is fixedly coupled to a needle holder that is coupled to and moves with a movable base that is axially movable within the handle housing. An inner driven structure (curvilinear part) is configured to selectively engage the movable base and travel therewith in a first stage of operation and in a second stage of operation in which the inner driven structure is disengaged from the movable base, the inner driven structure is driven along the movable base which is held in a stationary position.

Biopsy needle

A biopsy needle for collecting a tissue specimen includes an outer cannula and an inner tube received within the outer cannula and configured to receive a stylet. The outer cannula is fixedly coupled to a needle holder that is coupled to and moves with a movable base that is axially movable within the handle housing. An inner driven structure (curvilinear part) is configured to selectively engage the movable base and travel therewith in a first stage of operation and in a second stage of operation in which the inner driven structure is disengaged from the movable base, the inner driven structure is driven along the movable base which is held in a stationary position. The coupling between the inner driven structure and the inner tube is such that the axial driving of the inner driven structure imparts rotation to the inner tube relative to the outer cannula.

A biopsy needle for collecting a tissue specimen includes an outer cannula that is at least partially received within a handle housing and an inner tube received within the outer cannula and configured to receive a stylet. A snare coil is attached between the inner tube and the outer cannula and a movable base is disposed within the handle housing. The outer cannula is fixedly coupled to the base and the movable base is axially movable within the handle housing. An inner driven structure that is coupled to the inner tube is configured to travel axially across an upper surface of the movable base. The coupling between the inner driven structure and the inner tube is such that the axial driving of the inner driven structure imparts rotation to the inner tube relative to the outer cannula.

A multi-stage fragmenting projectile has a number of grooves and slots that are strategically placed on and around the periphery of the projectile. After the projectile engages an object, a first set of fragments separates from a main body of the projectile. A second set of fragments separate a short time later after the projectile has traveled farther in the object.

The invention provides an extension cable system for connecting electrodes to a medical device such as an External Pacing Generator. The system further provides a connector separator for maintaining electrode receiving connectors in a fixed relationship relative to each other to avoid contact between electrically exposed regions of the electrodes. The extension cable system comprises electrically conductive leads electrically connected to a plug adapted to an electrical socket of a medical device, dielectrically shrouded electrode receiving connector(s) that form an electrical connection with a filamentous electrode or electrically conductive wire, and a connector separator for gripping and maintaining the electrode receiving connectors in a predetermined and rigid relationship relative to each other. The electrode receiving connectors comprise outer shrouds that can be threadably rotated to operate wire receiving chucks to receive electrode wires. The connector separator comprises a bridge having opposing ends adapted as bifurcated grips for gripping an electrode receiving connector.
