Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for refining quilts of patches representing three dimensional structures. A method is provided that includes generating a first quilt representation of a three-dimensional structure, adding information to the first quilt representation, and generating a second quilt representation based on the first quilt representation. The first quilt representation is based on a model and associated with a first display level of detail. The second quilt representation is associated with a second display level of detail higher than the first display level of detail.

An object may be colored to indicate draft angles of a pull direction at various locations of the object. The coloration advantageously employs a color map specifying a color spectrum for a range of trigonometric values of the draft angles.

Computer instructions that operate to view a display of geometric constraints associated with a selected piece of geometry of a mechanical design and to drag and manipulate multiple geometric constraints of multiple pieces of geometry associated with the selected piece of geometry, when executed, is disclosed. In one embodiment, the computer instructions are part of a mechanical design software application. In one embodiment, the mechanical software application including the computer instructions are embodied in a distribution storage medium.
