A gas turbine engine includes a fan located at a forward portion of the gas turbine engine, a compressor section and a turbine section arranged in serial flow order. The compressor section and the turbine section together define a core airflow path. A rotary member is rotatable with at least a portion of the compressor section and with at least a portion of the turbine section. An outlet guide vane assembly includes multiple outlet guide vanes located in an exhaust airflow path downstream of the turbine section. The multiple outlet guide vanes being spaced-apart circumferentially from each other over an angular range of about 360 degrees, and each multiple outlet guide vane defining a radial extent. At least one of the multiple outlet guide vanes includes a cold fluid passageway and another of the multiple guide vanes includes a heated fluid passageway.

A turbine section for a gas turbine engine defines a radial direction and includes a low-pressure (LP) turbine that includes a first plurality of LP turbine blades that includes a first stage having first stage LP turbine blades that rotate in a first direction at a first speed, a second plurality of LP turbine blades that includes a plurality of stages of LP turbine blades disposed downstream of the first stage LP turbine blades that rotate in a second direction opposite the first direction at a second speed, a first LP turbine spool connected to the first plurality of LP turbine blades on an inner side of the first plurality of LP turbine blades in the radial direction, and a second LP turbine spool connected to the second plurality of LP turbine blades on an inner side of the second plurality of LP turbine blades in the radial direction.

Counter-rotating turbine

A gas turbine engine includes a turbomachine having a compressor section, a combustion section, and a turbine section. The turbine section includes a band having an upstream end and a downstream end. The band extends between the upstream end and the downstream end, and the band at least partially defines the working gas flow path. A plurality of airfoils extend into the working gas flow path from the band. Each airfoil of the plurality of airfoils includes a leading edge, a trailing edge, a first side, and a second side opposite the first side. Each of the plurality of airfoils is substantially symmetric across an airfoil centerline extending through a center of each of the plurality of airfoils. The band defines a valley portion adjacent the leading edge of each of the plurality of airfoils and a pair of hill portions on opposing sides of the valley portion.

An apparatus for a nozzle assembly for a turbine engine and a method of forming the nozzle assembly are described herein. The nozzle assembly can include a set of nozzles including an inner band and an outer band, with one or more airfoils extending between the inner and outer bands. The nozzles can be coupled to adjacent nozzles at the inner and outer bands to form the nozzle assembly. A throat can be defined at the minimum cross-sectional area between adjacent airfoils in the nozzle assembly. A formed portion can be formed on either of or both of the inner or outer band at the throat.

A turbine airfoil comprises an airfoil defining a leading edge, a trailing edge, a root portion, a tip portion, a chord line defining a chord length of the airfoil, a suction side surface extending in a spanwise direction from the root portion to the tip portion and in a flow-wise direction between the leading edge and the trailing edge, and a throat line extending spanwise along the suction side surface from the root portion to the tip portion. The turbine airfoil further includes a plurality of micro-riblet patches defined along the suction side surface aft of the throat line where each micro-riblet patch of the plurality of micro-riblet patches extends in the flow-wise direction between the throat line and the trailing edge.

An aircraft engine is provided. The aircraft engine includes a compressor section having a compressor. A turbine section is downstream of the compressor section. The turbine section includes a turbine having turbine blades arranged in counter rotating stages. The aircraft engine further includes one or more fluid supply lines and a fuel cell assembly fluidly coupled to the one or more fluid supply lines for receiving one or more input fluids. The fuel cell assembly is in fluid communication with the turbine section to provide one or more output products to the turbine section. The aircraft engine further includes a heat exchanger in fluid communication with the turbine downstream of the counter rotating stages of turbine blades to receive exhaust gases from the turbine. The heat exchanger is thermally coupled to the one or more fluid supply lines of the fuel cell assembly.

A turbine engine includes a core having a fan section, a compressor section, combustion section, and turbine section in serial flow arrangement and defining an engine centerline. The turbine section has a set of turbine stages, having paired sets of non-rotating, circumferentially spaced vanes defining a respective nozzle, and rotating circumferentially spaced blades. A first stage turbine nozzle has a solidity that is a ratio of an axial chord length of the turbine vanes to the circumferential spacing between adjacent vanes.

A variable area turbine nozzle assembly includes a guide vane including an outer centering pin defining a tab. An inner support ring is spaced radially outward from the guide vane and defines an opening and a protrusion. The protrusion is configured to engage with the tab of the outer centering pin. An outer support ring extends circumferentially around the inner support ring and defines an aperture. The outer support ring has a second coefficient of thermal expansion that is greater than or less than the first coefficient of thermal expansion. At least one linkage joins the inner support ring to the outer support ring and is configured to rotate the inner support ring circumferentially about an axial centerline of the variable area turbine nozzle assembly in response to a change in operational temperature of a combustion gas thus causing the guide vane to rotate.

A turbine engine includes a compressor section, a combustion section, and a turbine section, and an airfoil with an outer wall defining a pressure side and a suction side and extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge to define a mean camber line. A first thickness is defined between the pressure side and the suction side at a first location along the mean camber line.
