A novel distributed method for machine learning is described, where the algorithm operates on a plurality of data silos, such that the privacy of the data in each silo is maintained. In some embodiments, the attributes of the data and the features themselves are kept private within the data silos. The method includes a distributed learning algorithm whereby a plurality of data spaces are co-populated with artificial, evenly distributed data, and then the data spaces are carved into smaller portions whereupon the number of real and artificial data points are compared. Through an iterative process, clusters having less than evenly distributed real data are discarded. A plurality of final quality control measurements are used to merge clusters that are too similar to be meaningful. These distributed quality control measures are then combined from each of the data silos to derive an overall quality control metric.

A rebar fabricating machine is provided that is capable of processing either straight rod stock material or coil stock material. The rebar fabricating machine comprises a main cabinet, a horizontal power driven straightening module mounted adjacent to the upstream end of the main cabinet, a main drive module, a vertical straightening module, an encoder roll, a shear device and a bending head all mounted on the interior of the main cabinet. The main drive module includes a plurality of upper rolls each having a hydraulic cylinder attached thereto and a plurality of lower driven rolls driven by a single drive motor. The vertical straightening module includes a plurality of adjustable upper and lower straightening rolls. The horizontal straightening module is pivotally mounted on a base so that the horizontal straightening module can be selectively removed from the path of travel of the stock material. A swing up door is mounted on the main cabinet adjacent the main drive module so that when the swing up door is open, power to the hydraulic cylinder attached to each upper roll is interrupted so that the stock material cannot be fed into the fabricating machine. The entire apparatus is operated using an electronic computerized controller that connects each hydraulic cylinder through a common manifold to a single source of hydraulic pressure.

There is disclosed a machine for the cutting of reinforcing bar which is received in coils into straight lengths. The machine includes a coil unwinding station with an independent drive means for unwinding of the coil of reinforcing bar which is controlled in response to the slack in the re-bar unwound from the coil and in response to the lengths of re-bar cut by the machine to compensate for the large mass and inertia of the coil, interfacing the coil unwinding to the remainder of the machine operation. The unwinding station includes a slack detector responsive to the uncoiled angle of the re-bar to actuate, through roller cams, switches which control the drive for the coil spindle between power-on and power-off with braking or no braking operations. The re-bar is passed to straightener stations which are provided with a plurality of opposed rollers in orthogonal planes which are fixedly adjustable to bend the re-bar past its yield point in a direction opposite to the incident bends of the re-bar as it is received from the unwinding station. The re-bar is forced through the straightener stations by first and second drive stations that are positioned before the first straightener and after the second straightener stations. The machine also has a re-bar length detector which includes an endless belt movement displacement sensor that is mechanically coupled to an encoder that displays and records the forward movement of the re-bar. The machine terminates with a re-bar shear station having a fixed position anvil and a reciprocating hammer that has an aperture which receives the re-bar and that is driven in a reciprocal fashion to force the re-bar against the anvil, shearing the bar at any desired length. The machine is provided with suitable automatic and manual control means for dispensing any desired lengths of straightened re-bar.
