Sensor devices, systems, and methods for measuring different components of a flow are provided. A sensing arrangement includes a substrate and first and second sensor arrays on the substrate. The first sensor array sensing elements are distributed to obtain measurement data indicative of a first property of an operating environment, such as a turbulent component of a fluid flow. The second sensor array sensing elements are interspersed amongst the first sensor array and distributed to obtain measurement data indicative of a second property of the operating environment, such as an acoustic component of the fluid flow.

Multi-wavefield flow sensing devices and related methods

Methods and systems are provided for determining a maximum expected response of a reverberant wavefield system to an excitation, where there is uncertainty in both the excitation and the dynamic properties of the system. An exemplary method of characterizing a reverberant response associated with an reverberant subsystem involves determining a first variance associated with an excitation energy exposed to the reverberant subsystem, determining a second variance associated with an effective damping loss factor of the reverberant subsystem, determining a third variance associated with an input modal power acceptance of the reverberant subsystem&#x2014;and for multiple connected subsystems, determining a fourth variance associated with a coupling loss factor of the coupled subsystems&#x2014;determining a cumulative variance associated with the reverberant response based on the first variance, the second variance, and the third variance, and displaying an output influenced by the cumulative variance on a display device.

Methods and systems for determining response of a reverberant system

A sensor system as presented here includes a plurality of digital sensor devices, a random access memory (RAM) architecture coupled to the digital sensor devices, and a controller operatively coupled to the RAM architecture. Each digital sensor device is configured to generate digital sensor output data. The controller controls the reading and writing operations of the RAM architecture. During a data recording operation of the sensor system, each of the digital sensor devices is directly connected, electrically and physically, to the RAM architecture to facilitate synchronous writing of the digital sensor output data.

An air extractor is provided for reducing wind throb in a vehicle. The air extractor includes a support having a first opening. A first flap is pivotally mounted to support frame in the first opening. The first flap is displaceable between a fully outwardly open position, a fully inwardly open position and an intermediate closed position. Further, the flap is tuned to a resonance frequency of between 12 and 18 hertz characteristic of the wind throb generated by the vehicle in which the air extractor is mounted.

A continuous scanning method employs one or more moveable sensors and one or more reference sensors deployed in the environment around a test subject. Each sensor is configured to sense an attribute of the test subject (e.g., sound energy, infrared energy, etc.) while continuously moving along a path and recording the sensed attribute, the position, and the orientation of each of the moveable sensors and each of the reference sensors. The system then constructs a set of transfer functions corresponding to points in space between the moveable sensors, wherein each of the transfer functions relates the test data of the moveable sensors to the test data of the reference sensors. In this way, a graphical representation of the attribute in the vicinity of test subject can be produced.
