A magnification adjustable projection system includes an imaging system having a first pair of cylindrical lens plates located within an object or image space. The first pair of cylindrical lens plates includes a first cylindrical lens plate axially movable relative to a second cylindrical lens plate. A second pair of cylindrical lens plates is located within the object or image space in optical alignment with the first pair of cylindrical lens plates. The second pair of cylindrical lens plates includes a third cylindrical lens plate axially movable relative to a fourth cylindrical lens plates. First and second actuators adjusts distances between the first and second cylindrical lens plates and between the third and fourth cylindrical lens plates. The first and second pairs of cylindrical lens plates have first and second cylindrical transverse axes that are approximately 45° relative to each other.

An optical device includes a support structure configured to retain an optical element using a cured adhesive composition that is disposed between a surface of the support structure and a surface of the optical element, wherein a structured optical particulate material is dispersed throughout the cured adhesive. The structured optical particulate material redirects curing radiation via a scattering mechanism to facilitate curing of portions of the adhesive compositions that cannot be directly exposed to the radiation, thereby facilitating rapid and more thorough curing than could otherwise be achieved without the structured optical particulate material.

Optical connectors for connecting optical fiber to a light source are disclosed. In one embodiment, an optical connector includes a housing with a first end having an open aperture and a second end having a blind aperture. A chamber is disposed in the housing such that the optical axis of the housing passes through the chamber. The chamber includes a first material. A light collecting region formed from a second material is disposed in the housing between the second end of the housing and the chamber. A blind aperture is positioned in the light collecting region such that a termination of the blind aperture is spaced apart from the chamber by at least a portion of the second material. A refracting surface is disposed in the housing between the open aperture and the light collecting region such that the optical axis of the housing passes through the refracting surface.

A micro-electro-mechanical (MEMS) based surveillance system and a method for using the MEMS based surveillance system are described herein for imaging an object. In one example, the MEMS based surveillance system can record images of an object from four different wavelength regions including visible light, near-infrared light, infrared light, and far infrared light.

Thickness and group index variations in test strip samples of ultra-low expansion glass are made by extracting the strip samples with front and back faces oriented at an acute skew angle to the axis of the boule. The strip samples are positioned the within an interferometric measurement cavity so that a set of subcavities formed by pairings of each of two reference surfaces together with each of the front and back faces of the strip sample which each subcavity having a different optical path length spacing. The skew angle is sized to avoid diffusion effects of striae present in the boule.

In one embodiment the F content of F&#x2014;SiOis in the range of 5000 ppm to 10,000 ppm F. The high index and low index materials are each deposited to a thickness of less than or equal to 0.9 quarter wave, and the capping material is deposited to a thickness in the range of 5 nm to 25 nm. The disclosure is also directed to optical elements having the foregoing coating and a method of making the coating.

A hyperspectral imaging system and method are described herein for providing a hyperspectral image of an area of a remote object (e.g., scene of interest). The hyperspectral imaging system includes at least one optic, a scannable slit mechanism, a spectrometer, a two-dimensional image sensor, and a controller. The scannable slit mechanism can be a micro-electromechanical system spatial light modulator (MEMS SLM), a diffractive Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MOEMS) spatial light modulator (SLM), a digital light processing (DLP) system, a liquid crystal display, a rotating drum with at least one slit formed therein, or a rotating disk with at least one slit formed therein.

Hyperspectral imaging system and method for imaging a remote object

A polarization switching apparatus has a first birefringent polarizer formed as a composite prism and disposed to direct incident light of a first polarization along a first optical path and light of a second polarization along a second optical path, wherein the second optical path is oblique to the first optical path. A beam redirector is disposed to redirect the first optical path from the first birefringent polarizer toward an input face of a second birefringent polarizer; wherein the second birefringent polarizer is also formed as a composite prism and is disposed to combine incident light of the first and second polarizations onto a common output path. A shutter apparatus is actuable to selectively block light of the first polarization or light of the second polarization from the input face of the second birefringent polarizer.

Broadband polarization switching

Systems and methods for performing photoreactions in a photoreactive material using scattered actinic light from at least one light-diffusing optical fiber are disclosed. The systems and methods include disposing a light-diffusing optical fiber relative to the photoreactive material. The light-diffusing optical fiber has a glass core, a surrounding cladding, and nano-sized structures situated either within the glass core or at the core-cladding boundary. The nano-sized structures are configured to scatter guided actinic light that travels in the light-diffusing optical fiber from an actinic light source. The scattered actinic light is provided throughout the photoreactive material and causes a photoreaction throughout the photoreactive material.

Systems and methods for performing photoreactions using light-diffusing optical fiber

An apparatus for providing a pulsed radiation beam has a radiation source providing a pulsed radiation beam at a constant pulse repetition frequency. A beam deflector in the path of the pulsed radiation beam is actuable to redirect the pulsed radiation beam cyclically towards each of a plurality of beam intensity modulators in turn. A beam recombiner combines modulated light from each of the plurality of beam intensity modulators in order to form the modulated pulsed radiation beam at the constant pulse repetition frequency.

A light pulse conditioning apparatus has at least first and second curved reflective surfaces that share a common focus and a light-redirecting element disposed between the first and second curved reflective surfaces to redirect at least a portion of an incident light beam toward the second curved reflective surface as a delayed beam portion. A beam-shifting compensating element is disposed between the first curved reflective surface and the light-redirecting element and in the path of the delayed beam portion, for shifting the optical path of the delayed beam portion as it returns toward the light-redirecting element.

It is ideal for use in lithographic tools involving deep or vacuum ultraviolet radiations, in particular, as lens potting materials for 157 nm lithographic tools.

Within the illumination system, the common focusing optic collimates light en route to a test surface. Within the imaging system, the common focusing optic telecentrically images a grating pattern appearing on the test surface onto a fringe pattern detector.
