A modular multiport pod missile includes a plurality of pipe sections securable together to form a conduit for transporting a fluid in a generally horizontal direction of travel, and at least one pod secured between two of the pipe sections forming the conduit. Each pod has a plurality of input ports extending radially outwardly at an angle from a perimeter of the pod. Each of the input ports is configured for connection to a high-pressure line for delivering a high-pressure fluid from a pump to the conduit. The input ports are angled such that, when connected to a high-pressure line, high-pressure fluid flowing through the input ports merges with the fluid in the conduit generally in the same direction of travel as the fluid in the conduit.

An automatically controlled hydraulic fracturing pump system includes a hydraulic cylinder controlled via a hydraulic circuit; a sensor in communication with the hydraulic circuit; and a control module in data communication with the sensor. The control module has a memory storing computer-readable instructions; and a processor configured to execute said instructions to: (1) determine, via the sensor, an attribute about the hydraulic cylinder; (2) determine an attribute about the hydraulic fracturing pump system; (3) determine a value for correcting movement of the hydraulic cylinder; and (4) send a signal to the hydraulic circuit to adjust movement of the hydraulic cylinder.

A method for optimizing pressure exchange includes providing a first pressure exchange system comprising an energy recovery device (ERD). A second system supplies high-pressure fluid, energized by a positive displacement pump, to the ERD. A third system supplies low-pressure fluid to the ERD. The first system energizes the low-pressure fluid with the high-pressure fluid to form a high-pressure fracking fluid, which is delivered from the first system to a well-head. A rate of required flow is input into a control system, which determines a rate of flow of the high-pressure fluid, a rate of flow of the low-pressure fluid, and an actual rate of flow of the fracking fluid at the well-head. The control system then adjusts to equilibrium: the rate of flow of the high-pressure fluid based on the actual rate of flow; and the rate of flow of the low-pressure fluid based on the actual rate of flow.

Control, integration, and modulation systems and methods for regulating hydraulic fracturing systems when combined with a pressure exchange system

A method of controlling a high-pressure system having an engine, and a hydraulic pump having a swashplate includes inputting a maximum discharge pressure, a maximum allowable equipment pressure, a pressure relief valve (PRV) setting, a flowrate, and a maximum positive and negative rate of change of pressure; setting a work value to full power; setting a first position of the swashplate based on flowrate; determining: (a) if a discharge pressure is greater than the PRV setting; (b) if the discharge pressure is greater than the maximum allowable equipment pressure; and (c) if a rate of change of pressure is greater than the maximum positive rate of change of pressure or the maximum negative rate of change of pressure; and upon the occurrence of any of steps (a)-(c): (d) activating a PRV in the system; (e) setting the swashplate position to neutral; and (f) reducing the power to zero.
