A relay circuit is provided for operating a bi-directional dc motor including an H-bridge relay circuit having a first and a second relay. The first relay is capable of operatively engaging a first contact at a first time period to provide a first connection of the motor to a power source to operate the motor in a first mode. The second relay is capable of operatively engaging a second contact at a second time period to provide a second connection of the motor to the power source to operate the motor in a second mode. The relay circuit further includes a switch having at least one contact operatively engaging the first or second relay for effectuating the first or second connection, respectively. A third relay is operatively associated with the switch to provide a third connection of the motor to the power source as the at least one contact operatively engages the first or second relay. The third connection is disconnected prior to disconnection of the first or second connection as the at least one contact disengages the first or second relay.

Relay circuit for high-voltage operation of a bi-directional DC motor

An improved power-switching relay especially designed for mounting on printed circuit boards together with a method for manufacturing such a relay. The relay includes a number of features designed to properly position the various relay components relative to one another and to help ensure that they remain in the proper position at all times. To this end, the relay includes a unitary bobbin (22) and stationary contact support header (33) together with means (64) for firmly retaining the stationary contacts (34, 36) and their terminals (63, 73) in place in the header. The relay also provides means to prevent rotation of the armature relative to the movable contact assembly (53, 54) and to prevent rotation of the coil assembly relative to the frame (35). According to a further aspect of the invention, the core and coil assembly is attached to the relay frame by extending the core through the coil assembly and press-fitting the core into an extruded hole (14) in the frame. This procedure not only provides a very strong, rigid attachment, but permits the core to be accurately positioned relative to the movable contact arm assembly by simply pressing the core into the extruded aperture by the required amount. This capability, for the most part, eliminates the need for any final adjustments after the relay has been assembled and, thus, helps reduce manufacturing costs. The bobbin is additionally provided with deformable members (38) to take up any space between the core head and bobbin, ensuring a tight assembly.

Method of manufacturing miniature power switching relays

An improved power-switching relay especially designed for mounting on printed circuit boards together with a method for manufacturing such a relay. The relay also provides means to prevent rotation of the armature relative to the movable contact assembly (53, 54) and to prevent rotation of the coil assembly relative to the frame (35). According to a further aspect of the invention, the core and coil assembly is attached to the relay frame by extending the core through the coil assembly and press-fitting the core into an extruded hole (14) in the frame. This procedure not only provides a very strong, rigid attachment, but permits the core to be accurately positioned relative to the movable contact arm assembly by simply pressing the core into the extruded aperture by the required amount. This capability, for the most part, eliminates the need for any final adjustments after the relay has been assembled and, thus, helps reduce manufacturing costs.

Miniature power switching relays

A micro-switch having an actuating mechanism comprising a pusher bearing directly on a conductive contact carrying spring blade which is trap mounted and pivotable at an anchor point distal from said contact(s), and a lever actuator hinge mounted to the switch case by means of laterally projecting trunnions having flat portions which are pivotable on fulcrum pivot points formed integrally in spaced axially aligned alcove portions in the switch case.

Snap action switch

An electromagnetic contactor having a box shaped frame DC solenoid, a plunger with one end attached to a stamped metal bracket which, in turn, is attached to a pusher assembly. The pusher assembly includes the movable contacts. As the solenoid plunger is extended and retracted, the contacts associated with the assembly will engage and disengage in response thereto. The solenoid is mounted in a base and is biased up against the carrier by a curved spring washer. The coil terminals are part of the solenoid and are trapped or contained between guide walls of the base to provide strain relief. The coil terminals are not rigidly attached to the base so as to allow the solenoid to float and to prevent fatigue of the terminals.
