A protector for sheet metal coil is formed of plastic with a flange and sleeve which are joined together at a ridge portion. The protectors incorporate symmetrically disposed groupings of stacking features or components which include a finger within a stacking access opening, a stacking tab, and a stacking opening. The fingers are employed to resiliently engage the inner surface of a core of a coil and incorporate a receiver surface for freely abuttable engagement with a stacking tab of a second protector when arranged in mutual stacking relationship. The stacking openings function for stacking purposes to receive the protruding finger of a next stack protector.

A closure system including a polymeric split ring clamp and a polymeric lid for a polymeric drum. To maintain the integrity of the closure, the lid rim region is formed having an annular restraining notch which cooperates with twist inhibiting blocking components formed within the interior of a cooperating inwardly opening polymeric split ring clamp. The blocking component may be provided as a sequence of regularly spaced block-like protuberances located within the inward upwardly disposed region of the ring clamp. A secondary closure arrangement is provided with the split ring clamp which receives a polymeric banding strap to prevent one end of the split ring from disengaging with an associated pivot arm. When the split ring clamp is in a fully open or pre-clamping mode orientation, a capture groove is formed with the ring pivot shaft formed at one end of the split ring clamp. This capture groove is aligned with and engages a corresponding capturing pawl formed at the opening of the ring pivot shaft receiving notch. To facilitate cleaning and re-use, a polymeric gasket is provided which is removably insertable within a seal retainer cavity located at the rim of the lid.

Molded drum, lid and ring-clamp system with enhanced containment

A molded lid having an intermediate region configured as a sequence of waves, each of curved cross-section forming successively occurring crests and troughs, and exhibiting amplitudes increasing in value from the lid center toward the rim. The waves terminate at a ring band which is located to slide in adjacency with the inwardly disposed side of a plastic drum. The lid is provided with a polymeric gasket which is retained in position by a retainer band which is insertable in sliding compressive engagement within a retainer cavity.

A split ring clamp for retaining a lid upon an enclosure such as a plastic or fibrous drum is provided which is formed entirely of polymeric material such as a high molecular weight, high density polyethylene copolymer. The assemblage includes two parts, a channel-form split ring and a pivot arm joining the two ends of the split ring together over the rim structure of a container. One end of the ring supports an integrally formed pivot shaft receiving notch as well as an outwardly extending toe with a rearwardly disposed contact surface. The opposite side of the ring is formed having a receiver channel within which there is provided an inwardly depending toe with a rearwardly facing contact surface. The pivot arm is formed having a transversely disposed arm pivot shaft and a ring pivot shaft receiving notch having a shaft access opening which is outwardly disposed and extends to a shaft bearing surface. Such an arrangement permits a more thin profile for the ring and pivot arm assembly. The arm pivot shaft pivotally engages the ring receiving notch and the ring pivot shaft receiving notch receives the ring pivot shaft in a slideable engagement. When closed, the contact surfaces of the two toes of the ring engage in stress transfer relationship to relieve excess stress on the pivot arm itself.

Polymeric split ring clamp

A clamping ring for retaining a lid upon an enclosure such as a fibrous drum is provided which is formed entirely of polymeric material such as a high molecular weight, high density polyethylene copolymer. The assemblage includes only two parts, a channel formed split ring and a pivot arm joining the two ends of the split ring together over the rim structure of the container. One end of the ring supports an integrally formed pivot shaft receiving notch and the opposite end of the ring is configured having a receiver channel with spaced-apart sides and an outwardly disposed opening. The inwardly-facing internal surfaces of the receiver channel are slideably movable in adjacency over the side surfaces of the opposite side of the ring and a ring pivot shaft extends between the spaced-apart sides of the receiver channel. The pivot arm cooperates with the split ring and has a pivot end formed with a transversely disposed arm pivot shaft and a ring shaft receiving notch spaced therefrom. The arm pivot shaft is configured for slideable engagement with the ring receiving notch and the ring shaft receiving notch is configured for slideably receiving the ring second end pivot shaft.

Two-piece polymeric lid clamping ring

A bottle and drinking tube assembly is provided for dispensing of liquids. The bottle has an open top body formed from a resilient plastic material and is adapted to be collapsed upon application of moderate hand pressure and a cap for closing the top through which the bottle is filled. An aperture is formed in the cap for receiving an elongated drinking tube that extends to the bottom of the bottle and has an end exterior of the bottle from which the liquid is discharged. A fluid seal is formed between the cap and tube. A selectively operable venting valve is also provided in the cap to alternatively permit airflow into the bottle enabling the user to sip the liquid through the tube or to prevent fluid outflow from the bottle when the bottle is collapsed to forcibly expel liquid through the tube.

Bottle and drinking tube assembly

A closure assembly for use with fiber containers of a generally cylindrical shape which includes an integrally molded lid having a top portion which extends to a periphery which incorporates a seating channel and a skirt assembly within which primary and secondary latching components are retained. The lid is associated for multi-mode closure upon the container through the use of a plurality of spaced fasteners which are attached to the container outer sidewall in a predetermined spaced relationship adjacent the top edge thereof. Primary latching components within the skirt assembly are of limited extent and are removable from the lid through the use of a pull tab and parting groove architecture. Thus, the lid may be removably secured to the container with the secondary latching feature within the upper portion of the skirt assembly without damaging and without engaging the primary latching structure for pre-filling shipment. Following filling of the container, the lid may be attached thereto in a filled mode wherein the primary latching feature is engaged by proper orientation of the lid. The end user removes the primary latching feature in tear-away fashion and the secondary latching feature remaining in the skirt assembly permits reclosure mode utilization by the end user.

A lid for use with containers such as drums, pails, tubs and cups which is formed as a singular unit from molded plastic and which incorporates a peripherally disposed skirt configured along with a rim structure to provide primary and secondary latching features. A parting groove is positioned within the skirt assembly in conjunction with a tear ring which functions to remove the primary latching assembly following the initial closure of the container with the lid. Prior to such removal, the primary latching assembly includes an interference lug having a compression section which engages the upwardly disposed surface of an engaging groove formed within the rim structure of the container. After removal of the primary latching assembly, a secondary latching arrangement is maintained which includes the upper skirt portion, a generally semi-cylindrically shaped rim interior portion having a bead conforming surface nestable in seating adjacency with the upwardly disposed container rim bead and a detent defining ridge formed integrally with the skirt upper portion interior surface at a location for snap-on engagement with the rim structure of the container.

Molded lid assembly with primary and secondary latching features

A flexible, plastic lid for sealing containers such as drums and pails having an open top formed with a contoured lip includes a center portion and an annular edge portion extending radially outwardly from the center portion. The annular edge portion comprises an inner curl, an outer curl and an intermediate curl disposed therebetween. The outer curl is formed with a convex inner surface having spaced projections which is adapted to flex and stretch over the contoured lip of the drum so that the inner surface, including the spaced projections, engage the lip to form an effective seal therebetween. A number of locking clips are spaced at regular intervals about the lid and are adapted to snap-fit over the lid and against the lip of the container to enhance the seal therebetween.
