Systems and methods are described for compensating for inaccurate echo prediction in audio systems. A signal may be received at a microphone of an audio system, the signal including audio rendered using a spatial audio renderer across a multi-channel audio output. A signal may be received from the spatial audio renderer that indicates a change in rendering of audio. The audio system may then determine if there is echo power within the received signal greater than an expected echo power. After the signal from the spatial audio renderer has been received, the echo suppression applied to the received signal may be modified in response to a determination that the echo power is greater than the expected echo power, the echo suppression attenuating pre-selected frequency bands of the received signal.

A method of outputting audio in a teleconferencing environment includes receiving audio streams, processing the audio streams according to information regarding effective spatial positions, and outputting, by at least three speakers arranged in more than one dimension, the audio streams having been processed. The information regarding the plurality of effective spatial positions corresponds to a perceived spatial scene that extends beyond the speakers in at least two dimensions. In this manner, participants in the teleconference perceive the audio from the remote participants as originating at different positions in the teleconference room.

The present application discloses methods, systems, and hearing prostheses for reducing wind noise and/or thermal noise in an audio signal transmitted to the user of a hearing prosthesis. A method in accordance with the present disclosure includes utilizing delay-sum beamforming to improve the signal-to-noise ratio in an audio signal that contains wind noise and/or thermal noise. In the presence of at least one of wind noise and thermal noise, amplitudes and phases of at least two input signals are matched. The two signals are then added together, resulting in an average improvement in the signal-to-noise ratio of the signal transmitted to the user of about 3 dB.

Optimal spatial filtering in the presence of wind in a hearing prosthesis

Methods and systems are disclosed for rate matching in a stimulating medical device, such as a cochlear implant or an auditory brain stimulator. In embodiments, the stimulating medical device applies a fast Fourier transform (FFT) at an analysis rate to the received signal to obtain a plurality frequency bin output signals. The stimulating medical device then applies a rate matching through interpolation function to the frequency bin output signals to match the stimulation rate for the stimulating medical device. This rate matching through interpolation function may apply a common interpolation filter to each frequency bin output to obtain a plurality of outputs distributed in time across the time period between executions of the FFT. The values of the frequency bin output signals at the time most closely matching the time for which stimulation is to be applied may then be selected and used in applying the stimulation.
