A first process to produce polycarbamate comprising providing urea in liquid form; and adding the liquid urea to a polyol is provided. A second process for producing polycarbamate comprising adding solid urea to a polyol in liquid form to form a reaction mixture is provided. Also provided is a reaction product produced by the first process or second process.

The cross-linkable coating composition comprises: (a) polyaldehyde, or acetal or hemiacetal thereof; (b) an acid catalyst having pKa of less than 6; (c) a liquid media; (d) an acrylic polycarbamate comprising at least an average of 2.0 carbamate functional groups, wherein said polycarbamate has a glass transition (Tg) of less than 25&#xb0; C.; and (e) one or more fillers having a pH in the range of equal to or less than 9 and/or one or more pigments having a pH in the range of equal to or less than 9, and/or one or more additives having a pH in the range of equal to or less than 9, wherein said composition has a curing temperature in the range of less than 70&#xb0; C.

The instant invention provides a crosslinkable coating composition, and method of producing the same. The crosslinkable coating composition according to the present invention comprises: (a) one or more polycarbamates derived from one or more polyesters comprising the condensation reaction product of one or more polyols with one or more polyacids, wherein said one or more polyols comprise at least 25 percent by weight of one or more units having 4 or more hydroxyl groups; (b) one or more crosslinking agents; (c) one or more acid catalysts; and (d) optionally one or more organic solvents.

The instant invention provides a crosslinkable aqueous composition, method of producing the same, crosslinked compositions, and method of producing the same. The crosslinkable composition comprising: an aqueous dispersion comprising; (a) water; (b) a polycarbamate comprising at least an average of 2.0 carbamate functional groups; (c) a polyaldehyde comprising at least two aldehyde groups; (d) an acid catalyst; and (e) optionally one or more surfactants; wherein said aqueous dispersion has a pH in the range of less than 7; and wherein said composition is capable of being crosslinked at a temperature in range of less than 80&#xb0; C. upon substantial removal of water.

Embodiments of the invention provide for a polycarbonate polyol including the reaction product of at least one polyol composition and a carbonate. The polycarbonate is one of an amorphous liquid and an amorphous solid at room temperature. The polyol composition includes at least one of a mixture of 1,3-cyclohexanedimethanol and 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol in a weight ratio from about 60:40 to about 5:95 and a polyol derived from a natural oil fatty acid or natural oil fatty acid methyl ester.
