A system may be configured to implement directional audio playback via digital signal processing on recorded audio. In some aspects, the system may include a processing device. Further, the processing device may be configured to select audio information for audio playback, the audio information including a plurality of audio captures of a microphone array, and determine directional instruction information for the audio playback, the directional instruction information identifying a virtual playback direction. In addition, the processing device may be further configured to generate a digital signal processing (DSP) plan based on the virtual playback direction, and apply the processing plan to the plurality of audio captures to produce the audio playback corresponding to the virtual playback direction.

Steering audio recordings in a surveillance system

A method for video management within a CCTV system includes receiving, at a computing device via one or more intermediate devices in the CCTV system, a video stream generated by a sensor device of the CCTV system. The video stream includes a plurality of video frames. The computing device sends, via the one or more intermediate devices of the CCTV system, an instruction to a sensor device configured to generate a video stream including a plurality of video frames. The computing device receives, via the one or more intermediate devices of the CCTV system, one or more frames of the plurality of video frames embedded with metadata associated with performance of the instruction by the sensor device. Performance of the CCTV system is evaluated using the metadata embedded within the one or more video frames.

In-band video communication

A surveillance camera and surveillance data management system includes a video management system with a data retention module for determining when surveillance data is deleted. Blocks of the surveillance data are deleted based on the ages of the blocks, which are calculated based on the difference between a recorded start date for each block and the current time and adjusted to subtract durations of periods of system downtime that occurred since the start date. The ages are also calculated using a counter, which is initialized to a predetermined value for each block and incremented or decremented only during uptime. In another embodiment, an override module determines an override status based on input from an interface, which can include a physical switch or a keyboard, mouse and display, and returns the override status. No surveillance data is deleted when the override status is true.

Camera data retention using uptime clocks and settings

A system and method for authenticating user requests issued from embedded applets running on web-accessible user devices. The server system generates authentication tokens associated with user credentials, in response to user requests for HTML pages that include the embedded applets. The server system stores the authentication tokens on the server system, and includes the authentication tokens in URLs within applet tags in the HTML pages returned to the user devices. When the applets download and request content from the server system, the applets supply the previously included authentication tokens in the URLs that identify the requested content. Upon finding a match between the applet-supplied authentication tokens and the stored authentication tokens, the server identifies the user as a trusted user, and responds with the requested content. This can be used to eliminate HTTP-based authentication challenges for subsequent user access.

Authentication system and method for embedded applets

Methods and transcoding proxies for transcoding media streams are described. In one embodiment, a method for transcoding a media stream that is delivered to an end-user device over a communications network involves selecting a transcoding technique for the media stream, transcoding a portion of the media stream using the selected transcoding technique, streaming the transcoded portion of the media stream to the end-user device, while the transcoded portion of the media stream is being streamed to the end-user device, detecting a change in a condition of the communications network, selecting a different transcoding technique in response to the change in the condition of the communications network, transcoding a subsequent portion of the media stream using the different transcoding technique, and streaming the transcoded subsequent portion of the media stream to the end-user device. Other embodiments are also described.

Method and transcoding proxy for transcoding a media stream that is delivered to an end-user device over a communications network

The present invention relates to data tunnelling and in one embodiment to the tunnelling of IP (Internet Protocol) data across an OSI (Open Systems Interconnect) network. In the preferred embodiment, network elements include both an OSI stack and an IP stack, and a respective directory of OSI addresses and corresponding IP subnets. Each network element generates a routing data packet, conveniently a Link State Packet (LSP), which includes the OSI address and IP subnet(s) associated with that network element. The LSPs are distributed across the network in normal manner. Upon receipt of an LSP from another network element, each network element updates its respective directory in respect of said other network element. Thus, each directory is automatically updated to reflect changes in the network, particularly in respect of IP subnets. This arrangement significantly reduces the need for manual tunnel configuration in the network. In an alternative embodiment, the invention provides dynamic data tunnelling of OSI data over an IP network.
