Aspects of coaxial to microstrip transitional housings are described. In one example, a transitional housing includes a channel comprising sidewalls formed into the housing, and an opening formed at an end of the channel. The transitional housing also includes a plug that is fitted into the opening at an end of the channel. The plug has a flat surface positioned at the end of the channel, extending between the sidewalls of the channel, and an undercut below the flat surface. The transitional housing also includes a coaxial conductor aperture that extends from outside the housing, into the housing, into the plug, through the flat surface and undercut of the plug, and into the channel. Use of the plug offers a manufacturing solution for the mechanical and electrical transition between a coaxial feedthrough to a PCB microstrip secured within the housing. The solution helps to eliminate unwanted mismatches of the transition.

A mounting clip can be placed and secured over the exterior surfaces of a package of an integrated optical assembly. The mounting clip includes a top panel, end clips that curl and extend down from end edges of the top panel, an interference tab that extends up from the top panel, and cap clips that curl and extend up from the top panel. The mounting clip is dimensioned such that bends in the end clips press and secure against exterior side surfaces of the package of the integrated assembly. Thus, the mounting clip can be secured to the package of the integrated assembly using an interference or friction fit. A cap on a fiber optic cable that extends from the package can be curled around and secured between the interference tab and cap clips of the mounting clip to secure it during surface mounting.

A system and method for placing an inductor on a circuit board. This method includes providing a circuit board, a pedestal, and an inductor, the pedestal has a top surface and a bottom surface and the circuit board has one or more electrical conductors, the inductor having a first inductor terminal and a second inductor terminal. Adhesive is placed on the circuit board and the bottom surface of the pedestal is placed on the adhesive located on the circuit board to secure the pedestal to the circuit board. Next, adhesive is placed on the top surface of the pedestal and the inductor is placed on the adhesive located on the top surface of the pedestal to secure the inductor to the pedestal. The inductor is electrically connected to the circuit board.
