Apparatus and methods for developing parallel networks. Parallel network design may comprise a general purpose language (GPC) code portion and a network description (ND) portion. GPL tools may be utilized in designing the network. The GPL tools may be configured to produce network specification language (NSL) engine adapted to generate hardware optimized machine executable code corresponding to the network description. The developer may be enabled to describe a parameter of the network. The GPC portion may be automatically updated consistent with the network parameter value. The GPC byte code may be introspected by the NSL engine to provide the underlying source code that may be automatically reinterpreted to produce the hardware optimized machine code. The optimized machine code may be executed in parallel.

Apparatus and methods for developing parallel networks using a general purpose programming language

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to providing dynamic assignment of home agent and home address in wireless communications, such that a mobile node away from home may receive local access services from a visited network. In an embodiment, a mobile node accesses a visited network. The visited network authenticates the mobile node with its home network. The visited network then assigns a visited home agent and a home address for the mobile node. The mobile node subsequently performs secure binding with the visitor home agent. The mobile node proceeds with communications using the visitor home agent and home address.

Another example method for operating an artificial nervous system, generally includes determining a synapse in the artificial nervous system for assignment; determining a first artificial neuron and a second artificial neuron for connecting via the synapse, wherein at least one of the synapse or the first and second artificial neurons are determined randomly or pseudo-randomly; and assigning the synapse to connect the first artificial neuron with the second artificial neuron.

Implementing structural plasticity in an artificial nervous system

Apparatus and methods for implementing learning by robotic devices. Attention of the robot may be manipulated by use of a spot-light device illuminating a portion of the aircraft undergoing inspection in order to indicate to inspection robot target areas requiring more detailed inspection. The robot guidance may be aided by way of an additional signal transmitted by the agent to the robot indicating that the object has been illuminated and attention switch may be required. The robot may initiate a search for the signal reflected by the illuminated area requiring its attention. Responsive to detecting the illuminated object and receipt of the additional signal, the robot may develop an association between the two events and the inspection task thereby storing a robotic context. The context of one robot may be shared with other devices in lieu of training so as to enable other devices to perform the task.

Apparatus and methods for robotic learning

Embodiments described herein relate to connected-state radio session transfer in wireless communications. A target access network controller may create a radio session associated with an access terminal, the radio session corresponding with a source radio session at a source access network controller. The target access network controller may also establish a communication route between a data network and the access terminal via the target access network controller. The target access network controller may further receive a frozen state associated with the source radio session from the source access network controller. In an aspect, the frozen state may include a snapshot of any data being communicated through the source radio session when freezing occurred. The target access network controller may subsequently unfreeze the received state.

Connected-state radio session transfer in wireless communication systems

In a data communication system capable of variable rate transmission, high rate packet data transmission improves utilization of the forward link and decreases the transmission delay. Data transmission on the forward link is time multiplexed and the base station transmits at the highest data rate supported by the forward link at each time slot to one mobile station. The data rate is determined by the largest C/I measurement of the forward link signals as measured at the mobile station. Upon determination of a data packet received in error, the mobile station transmits a NACK message back to the base station. The NACK message results in retransmission of the data packet received in error. The data packets can be transmitted out of sequence by the use of sequence number to identify each data unit within the data packets.

A novel key management approach is provided for securing communication handoffs between and access terminal and two access points. This approach provides for securely handing off communications between an access terminal and access point without risking exposure a master key for the access terminal. Temporary master keys are derived for low latency handoffs and secure authentication between a new access point and the access terminal. In one aspect, a distributive key management scheme is provided in which a current access point generates a new security key (based on its own security key) that is used by the next access point with which an access terminal communicates. In another aspect, a centralized key management scheme is provided in which a central authenticator maintains, generates, and distributes new security keys (based on a master security key associated with the access terminal) to access points.

Systems and methods for key management for wireless communications systems

Techniques to test performance of terminals and access points in CDMA data (e.g., cdma2000) systems. A framework of protocols and messages is provided to support systematic performance testing of terminals and to ensure interface compatibility. The framework comprises a Forward Test Application Protocol (FTAP) for testing forward channels and a Reverse Test Application Protocol (RTAP) for testing reverse channels. Techniques are also provided to (1) test different types of channels (e.g., traffic channels as well as auxiliary channels), (2) test bursty data transmissions, (3) support 'persistence' testing (i.e., continued testing over connection and disconnection), (4) force the settings of certain auxiliary channels (e.g., so that the error rate of the channels may be determined), and (5) collect, log, and report various statistics that may be used to derive performance metrics such as throughput and packet error rate.

Method and apparatus for testing traffic and auxiliary channels in a wireless data communication system

Embodiments disclosed herein relate to a new set of radio link protocols (RLPs) configured to provide for efficient data transmission in a multi-link communication system. In an embodiment, an upper-layer packet is segmented into link-layer packets to be transmitted over a plurality of communication links, each including a first sequence number in accordance with a predetermined order. A second sequence number is further added to each link-layer packet to be transmitted for the first time. The second sequence number is configured to be in a sequence space associated with a particular communication link, and may be used for detection of missing packets.

Radio link protocols for enhancing efficiency of multi-link communication systems

Method and System for Utilization of an Outer Decoder in a Broadcast Services Communication System is described. Information to be transmitted is provided to a systematic portion of a plurality of transmit buffers and encoded by an outer decoder communicatively coupled to the transmit buffer. The resulting redundant bits are provided to a parity portion of each transmit buffer. The content of the transmit buffers, is multiplexed and encoded by an inner decoder to improve protection by adding redundancy. The receiving station recovers the transmitted information by an inverse process. Because a decoding complexity depends on the size of a systematic portion of the transmit buffer, reasoned compromise between a systematic portion size and number of transmit buffers yields decreased decoding complexity.

Method and system for reduction of decoding complexity in a communication system

Methods and systems for estimating and canceling pilot interference in a wireless (e.g., CDMA) communication system. In one method, a received signal comprised of a number of signal instances, each including a pilot, is initially processed to provide data samples. Each signal instance's pilot interference may be estimated by despreading the data samples with a spreading sequence for the signal instance, channelizing the despread data to provide pilot symbols, filtering the pilot symbols to estimate the channel response of the signal instance, and multiplying the estimated channel response with the spreading sequence. The pilot interference estimates due to a plurality of interfering multipaths are accumulated to derive the total pilot interference, which is subtracted from the data samples to provide pilot-canceled data samples. These samples are then processed to derive demodulated data for each of at least one (desired) signal instance in the received signal.
