Technology provides for a magnetic field sensor cell including a color center arranged in a substrate, where the color center includes single-defect photon emitters, and a plurality of sector-shaped slices provided on the substrate, where each sector-shaped slice includes a body having a transparent material having a first refractive index formed into a raised sector shape having a narrow end formed into a grating structure, and a photoluminescent quantum dot placed in the body of the sector-shaped slice, where the sector-shaped slice is configured such that light from the quantum dot is reflected toward and emitted out of the narrow end, where the plurality of sector-shaped slices are arranged around the color center such that the narrow end of each slice of the plurality of slices points toward the color center. An array of magnetic field sensor cells can be arranged on the substrate.

Embodiments of an integrated apparatus for measuring an external magnetic or other external stimulus are presented herein. Chip-scale optically determined magnetic resonance sensor

Improved systems and methods are provided to implement anomaly detection. The method includes a FMCW LIDAR system that steers the laser beam of the LIDAR system via the wavelength tuning of a FMCW. The direction of the laser beam can be diffracted and controlled by the optical grating antennas which may diffract the laser beam as a function of wavelength. The method may also provide a LIDAR sensor with exhibits a controlled and wide-angle fill or output without the use of conventional mechanical mechanisms for scanning. The LIDAR system provides a cost-effective method to reduce scan dimensionality without sacrificing performance.

A vehicle subsystem for cleaning a vehicle cabin may include one or more light sources, a sensor module, and a vehicle cleaning control module. The one or more light sources are mounted in the vehicle cabin to project a collimated beam of light to contact one or more target surfaces in the vehicle cabin. The sensor module includes an array of one or more sensors mounted adjacent to the one or more target surfaces, to detect as sensor data the light reflected from the one or more target surfaces. The vehicle cleaning control module includes one or more processors, coupled to the sensor module, to execute a set of instructions to conduct, in response to the detection, specular reflection analysis of the sensor data, and determine, in response to the specular reflection analysis, a state of cleanliness of the vehicle cabin.

A real-time machine perception system and vehicles with real-time perception systems can be adapted for navigation in conflict zone environments and include an optical sensor and an optical processing component coupled to the optical sensor. The optical processing component can be configured to solve a non-linear control problem comprising solving a multi-vehicle merging or multi-vehicle synchronization problem. The optical processing component can perform optical processing on a signal from the optical sensor according to a deep learning algorithm having weights determined by solving the non-linear control problem.

Embodiments described herein relate to an adaptable photonic apparatus including an optical neural network. The photonic apparatus includes an optical input that provides an optical signal. The photonic apparatus also includes a chassis component and an optical neural network (ONN). The chassis component includes at least one modular mounting location for receiving a modular network component. The ONN is operably connected with the optical input and is configured to perform optical processing on the optical signal according to a deep learning algorithm. The ONN includes optical components arranged into layers to form the ONN. The modular network component is an additional optical processing component that is configured to function in cooperation with the ONN to adapt the deep learning algorithm.

Adaptable optical neural network system

A window can be used for object detection and/or identification. The window can have a first side and a second side. An optical grating can be operatively positioned with respect to the first side of the window. A light source can be configured to emit light toward the optical grating. A detector can be operatively positioned to acquire spectroscopic data of the light emitted from the light source after the light has interacted with the optical grating. Using the optical grating, a temperature at or near the first side can be determined. Based on the temperature, it can be determined whether an object is located on the first side of the window.

A silicon on insulator (SOI) photonic device having a waveguide is provided that includes a mode overlap portion with a topology optimized structure situated below an electrode of the capacitance structure. The device can significantly change a refractive index in a volume of mode overlap depending upon the applied potential to the capacitor and allows for a π phase shift in a modest mode overlap volume. The topology optimized structure has a waveguide and substrate that are partitioned in three dimensions using an extruded projection design. The electrode is a transition metal di-chalcogenide monolayer sheet (2D TMD). The enhanced mode overlay from the topology optimized waveguide portion allows a large reduction in the length of the waveguide with the mode overlap to achieve the needed phase shift for a photonic device.

The window can be movable to selectively open and close the opening. The window can include an optical grating operatively positioned near a closing edge of the window. A detector operatively positioned to acquire spectroscopic data of the light emitted from the light source after the light has interacted with the optical grating. A processor can be operatively connected to the detector. The processor can be configured to: determine a temperature based on the spectroscopic data; determine, based on the temperature, whether an object is located in the opening; and responsive to determining that an object is located in the opening, control a movement of window.

A vehicle includes an interior and an exterior, a surface within the interior, and a movable seat positioned over a first portion of the surface. The vehicle also includes a processor, a seat control system able to move the seat to expose the portion of the surface, and a light source able to illuminate a larger second portion of the surface which includes the first portion. The vehicle further includes a sensor to capture an image of the second portion of the surface, illuminated by the light source, and a cleaning element able to clean the second portion of the surface. The processor is configured to detect foreign material on the second portion of the surface, based on a comparison between the image and a stored image. The processor is also configured to activate the cleaning element, after detecting the foreign material on the second portion of the surface.

Autonomous vehicle cleaning system using foldable seats and adjustable lighting conditions

Embodiments described herein relate to a system with an electroactive substrate, a plurality of nanoparticles, and a control unit. The plurality of nanoparticles deposited in communication with the electroactive substrate. The control unit is configured to manipulate a shape of the electroactive substrate between an unactuated mode and an actuated mode to change an absorption band or an emission band of the plurality of nanoparticles. When the electroactive substrate shape is manipulated, the absorption band or the emission band of the plurality of nanoparticles is changed to tune the system for a radiative cooling based on a current dominating wavelength.

A seat blocking system can comprise a seat. The seat can include a seat understructure and an overlying seating surface. The seat understructure can form a seat base and a seatback arranged in a seating configuration. The seating surface can be configured to morph between a sittable shape, in which the seating surface is coextensive with the seat understructure, and an unsittable shape, in which the seating surface is expanded over at least a portion of the seat understructure. The seat blocking system can include a seat blocker. The seat blocker can be integrated with the seat. The seat blocker can be operable to morph between a deactivated state, whereby the seat blocker leaves the seat understructure to impart the sittable shape to the seating surface, and an activated state, in which the seat blocker acts on the seating surface to impart the unsittable shape to the seating surface.
