A convertible two-mode pressure regulator in which a main valve regulates fluid flow between an inlet and an outlet in response to a control pressure produced by a mechanically operated regulator valve, the control pressure depending on the outlet pressure and the force applied by a compression spring to a diaphragm carrying a regulator valve closure element. Compression of the regulator spring is controlled by a mechanical lever assembly and a shaft assembly which is selectively positionable by a selector knob to obtain higher or lower regulator spring force. Adjustable stops provide for individual adjustment of low and high outlet pressures for each of two pressure ranges.

Gas valve with natural/LP gas conversion capability

A multi-way valve unit which provides low pressure unregulated gas flow and high pressure regulated gas flow in an integrated gas control system. A main and bypass diaphragm valves control gas flow through the gas valve system, the main and bypass valves being opened by pressure differentials on their respective valve diaphragms. A regulator valve and a snap valve modify gas pressure applied to the main and bypass valves diaphragms respectively. A control means actuates the regulator and snap valves based on degree of temperature deficiency sensed in a monitored space. The control means opens the snap valve to provide unregulated gas flow when low gas pressure is required, and opens the regulator valve to provide regulated high flow when high gas pressure is required.

Bulb-operated modulating gas valve with minimum bypass

A burner controller for safe operation of a furnace has a an electromechanical latch for holding first and second fuel valves open responsive to an enable signal. The latch comprises an armature attached to the second valve and an electromagnet assembly attached to the first valve. When the electromagnet assembly receives the enable signal and the armature is attracted to the electromagnet assembly, the magnetic force opposes force of a spring urging the first and second valve simultaneously closed. When the enable signal is not present, the spring forces both valves into their closed position. An auxiliary valve in series flow arrangement with the second valve opposes flow of fuel passing through the second valve in certain situations.

Burner controller assembly

A convertible two-stage pressure regulator in which a main valve regulates fluid flow between an inlet and an outlet in response to a control pressure produced by first and second regulator valves arranged in parallel, the control pressure depending on the outlet pressure and the forces applied by compression springs to diaphragms carrying the first and second regulator valve closure elements. An electrically operated valve is provided for selectively disabling the second regulator valve whose regulator spring applies a higher force than the spring of the first regulator valve. The compressions of the regulator valve springs are coordinately varied by a manually operable selector mechanism for convening between natural and LP gas usages.

Two-stage gas valve with natural/LP gas conversion capability

An electrically controlled modulating pressure regulator in which a main valve regulates fluid flow between an inlet and an outlet in response to a control pressure produced by a servo valve which is responsive to the outlet pressure and the force applied by a regulator spring to a diaphragm carrying the servo valve closure element. Deformation of the regulator spring can be varied by an electrical actuator in the form of a wire segment of a shape memory alloy through which electric current can be passed to vary its temperature and length.

A gas valve having a main valve closure member carried by a first diaphragm biased to close the main valve, the first diaphragm being exposed on opposite sides to gas supply pressure and to pressure in a control chamber. The control chamber is connected to the main valve outlet through a normally closed control valve, whose position is primarily determined by an electromagnetic voice coil, in series with a normally open control valve, whose position is primarily determined by a second diaphragm exposed to the valve outlet pressure.

Gas valve capable of modulating or on/off operation

A fuel gas control valve capable of internationally acceptable operation, including a main valve operable in an on-off mode by an electromagnetic actuator that receives a signal from a conventional electric thermostat. A pilot valve is initially operated by a manual control, and is retained in the operating position by a power unit responsive to sensed presence of a pilot flame. A latching mechanism associated with the manual control interrelates with the main valve and overrides operation of the electromagnetic actuator in the event the pilot flame is extinguished for any reason. The valve also includes a mechanism that retains the manual control in pilot position until the pilot flame is established.

Safe gas control valve for use with standing pilot

A gas valve having a main valve closure member whose position is controlled both by a pivoting lever arrangement and a thermostatically controlled solenoid. The closure member is biased toward the lever by a spring between the closure member and the lever, and the lever is biased to position the closure member against a stationary valve seat. The lever is pivotable against its bias by a mechanical latch arrangement which forms part of a manual control, whereby when the lever is pivoted against its bias, the thermostatically controlled solenoid is permitted to engage the closure member, and, in the absence of demand from the thermostat, to move the closure member toward the valve seat against the bias of the spring between the closure member and lever.

Safe gas valve

A slow opening and fast closing gas valve includes a valve seat and a valve closure member arranged to respond to a gas pressure to seal aganst the valve seat to close the valve to an input gas flow therethrough. In order to open the valve, the gas exerting the gas pressure for sealing the valve closure member against the valve seat is allowed to bleed-off through a fixed restriction while the input gas is allowed to urge the valve closure member away from the valve seat to provide a slow opening of the input gas flow path through the valve. In order to close the input gas path through the valve, the input gas pressure is applied to the valve closure member to assist a closure spring in urging the valve closure member against the valve seat to produce a fast closure of the valve. A second valve is arranged to selectively control the flow path of the gas being bled off from the valve closure member to provide an unrestricted flow path or a restricted flow path through the fixed restriction. The restricted flow path is used during the opening of the gas valve while the unrestricted flow path is used during a closing of the gas valve.

A fluid pressure regulating valve having a two-stage high and low flow rate control capability combined with a natural-LP gas control pressure changeover uses a spring biased pressure regulating diaphragm controlling a fluid through an orifice defined by a valve seat. A solenoid valve armature is attached to a spring providing the spring bias for the diaphragm and is arranged to be actuated by a selectively energizable solenoid coil. An extension of the armature is captured by a step regulator assembly which is threaded into a valve body containing the regulating diaphragm. The high fire and low fire adjustments in the step regulator assembly are on non-moving threaded members attached to the regulator assembly and bearing on the extension of the armature to vary the energized and deenergized position of the solenoid armature. A positive temperature coefficient material heated by an energizing current for the solenoid operating the valve is located in an energizing circuit of the solenoid coil to provide a change in the energization of the solenoid coil after a threshold temperature of the material is reached. The natural-LP gas pressure changeover utilizes a cam encircling the extension of the armature and a stop means resting on the cam while supporting the end of the armature extension. A screw driver slot is provided for varying the position of the stop member on the cam surface to provide stable natural and LP gas operating positions.

A pressure operated regulator valve has a regulator spring that is held in place by a spring holder. The spring holder may be inserted into a spring housing and once inserted is locked in place. Adjustment of the valve spring may be made but the spring cannot be removed.

Disclosed is a fuel gas control for controlling the delivery of fuel gas. The present gas control comprises an inlet chamber having an inlet for receiving a supply of gas and an outlet chamber having an outlet for providing a supply of gas. The inlet and outlet chambers are connected by a valve opening. A valve is operatively associated with the opening. The valve has a closed position for preventing the flow of gas through the opening and an open position for permitting the flow of gas through the opening. The present control further comprises control chamber means for moving the valve between its open and closed positions in response to pressure variations within the control chamber means. The present control further comprises apparatus for directly connecting the control chamber means to a pressure signal from a power combustion air blower so that the valve is positioned in response to the pressure signal from the combustion air blower.

Fuel gas control

A gas valve assembly has a safety valve and two controlled valves connected in series. A first of the controlled valves is electromatic and a second is a conventional pressure controlled valve. A control knob provides for manual control of the safety valve and for locking the first electromagnetically controlled valve in an off position. The manual control knob, when in the off and pilot positions, causes a stop member to be moved against the movable core member of the electromagnetic operator to hold the electromagnetic controlled valve in an off position.

A gas valve has a valve seating surface and flexible valve member to insure that the gas flow is terminated when the valve closes. The valve seating surface has a flat portion around an opening and a raised portion around the peripheral opening. A cooperating flexible valve member has a flat portion and a raised portion around its periphery. When the flexible valve member moves against the seating surface, the raised portion of the flexible valve member engages the flat portion of the seating surface and the raised portion of the seating surface engages the flat portion of the valve member to form two concentric series connected seals to insure that gas flow through the valve is terminated.

A gas valve has a single operating knob for providing the operation of a pilot valve and the resetting operation of a thermocouple controlled safety apparatus with a 'supersafe' operation. Specifically, the gas valve has a main operating shaft adapted for both axial and rotary movement by a control knob. A tilting latch is attached to the shaft to provide for operation of a pilot valve and a main safety valve when a thermocouple safety mechanism is energized both for a safety valve resetting operation and to provide a 'supersafe' operation.
