The present disclosure provides a cannula assembly having a tube with an internal lumen, a proximal end portion and a distal end portion configured for insertion into a patient. The cannula assembly further includes a housing rotatably coupled to the tube between a closed position and one or more open positions. The housing contains an electronic component comprising an image transmission device, such as a camera, for collecting and receiving images of the surgical site. The housing is adapted to provide the image transmission device with a longitudinal or forward view when the housing is in the closed position and a transverse view (i.e., offset from the longitudinal axis) when the housing is in one of the open positions. The housing is disposed distal to the proximal end portion and proximal to the distal end portion of the tube to protect the image transmission device as the distal end portion creates an incision and/or passes through an existing incision in the patient.

The present invention provides gastrointestinal devices for limiting transfer and contact of material across luminal walls along a segment of the gastrointestinal tract (e.g., at the duodenum and/or upper jejunum). Devices of the invention include a gastrointestinal sleeve, an anchor, and a flange for attachment to a luminal wall proximal to the pyloric orifice. The invention also provides methods of use associated with such gastrointestinal devices, including methods for delivery, removal, and treatment of metabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obesity, and related comorbidities thereof by implanting gastrointestinal devices.

The medical puncturing device includes a housing (), a shield (), and a skin puncturing assembly disposed within the housing. The shield is axially movable in the housing. The skin puncturing assembly includes a movable carrier and a skin puncturing element mounted to the carrier. A distal end of the skin puncturing element is adapted for puncturing the skin of a patient. The carrier is movable from a retracted position wherein the skin puncturing element is disposed within the shield to a puncturing position wherein the distal end of the skin puncturing element is exposed. The carrier is maintained in the retracted position by engagement of flexure members or a retaining tab with the carrier. A drive spring is provided to move the carrier from the retracted position to the puncturing position. A retraction spring is provided to return the carrier and skin puncturing element into the housing.

The medical puncturing device includes an actuator, a shield, and a skin puncturing assembly. The actuator and shield are movable relative to one another. The skin-puncturing assembly includes a carrier and a skin-puncturing element. A distal end of the skin puncturing element is adapted for puncturing the skin of a patient. The carrier is movable from a retracted position wherein the distal end of the skin-puncturing element is disposed within the shield to a puncturing position wherein the distal end of the skin-puncturing element is exposed to puncture the skin of a patient. The carrier is maintained in the retracted position by interference engagement between the carrier and shield. A drive spring is provided to move the carrier from the retracted to puncturing positions. A retraction spring is provided to return the carrier to a position wherein the shield encompasses the skin puncturing element.

Rotary-actuated medical puncturing device

A suture lock fastening device to cinch a suture in a suture lock, cut the suture end, and deploy the suture lock in response to a single movement of a user. The fastening device includes a fastening head with a retainer that is configured to hold a suture lock in the fastening head. To release the suture lock from the fastening head, the retainer is irreversibly deformed. The fastening device may include an axially movable cutter with a cutting edge to sever the ends of the suture close to the suture lock. A threading device may be preloaded into the fastening device to facilitate threading the suture through the fastening device.

Locking and releasing apparatus for operating a medical device includes a handle and a lever member coupled to the handle for grasping engagement by an operator. The lever member is moveable in opposite directions relative to the handle. A locking and release mechanism operably connects the lever member to a force transmitting member for operating the medical device at a location distant from the handle. The locking and release mechanism locks movement of the force transmitting member in one direction after movement of the lever member in a locking direction. The locking and release mechanism releases movement of the force transmitting member in the one direction after opposite movement of the lever member in a releasing direction. The lever member operates the locking and release mechanism for releasing the movement of the force transmitting member in the one direction substantially upon changing movement of the lever member from the locking to the releasing direction.
